You can Just put another LEDs to Side /Bottom on Your any LED Keyboards. No electrical Issues. (up to 20~30 LEDs) :thumb:
And the Auto changing is by Muti 7 color LEDs, Much easier way than by the Software or controllered, IMO ::)

I had this discussion with sprit yesterday, and he said the lower case LEDs are just soldered onto the regular switch LED legs below. You have the option to bend the side LEDs 45-60° to position the angle properly for proper lighting. :)

You'll be given a pack of LEDs that you can solder onto the pre-existing LED solder points, except this is on the underside of the PCB. You then bend the legs however you wish to give the acrylic case a glow around the boarder. :)

Okay, so matte/frosty bottom is best? Is it possible to have a thinner layer of matte/frosty on top of the transparent for the upper layer? I think I wanted to have the top of the board be mostly opaque, but still have light shine through the sides.

Okay, so matte/frosty bottom is best? Is it possible to have a thinner layer of matte/frosty on top of the transparent for the upper layer? I think I wanted to have the top of the board be mostly opaque, but still have light shine through the sides.Sprit this is impossible... edit: nevermind, just put in an order for frosty clear top on clear bottom!

- Bottom Basic : Clear Matte, White Frosty Matte, ...
The Top layer in Model 3 super slim is : Actually a Middle for the Normal case, :)
The Transparent Acrylic does Not get scratched that much, in the real use, from my experiences, IMO. ::)
* Sure it should be made of a quality materials.
And You will not touch the bezels too often, It's thin anyway. IMHO.

Currently negotiating with DHL ATM, so if I get approval with the rate I proposed, I'll be shipping all NA/EU orders. If not, Sprit will be shipping EU orders.
I picked a random location in SOLLENTUNA, Sweden for the DHL rate quote. At my current rate, it costs $37 to ship there, and takes 2 business days. (Sprit's EMS rate is lower than this)
If I get approval on my proposed shipping rate, DHL shipping will drop to $25 to most of EU.
If I end up shipping EU orders, EU people also have the option to pay a flat rate of $15 VAT/customs tax etc ahead of time, and you won't get a C.O.D at your door.
Hopefully that gives you a rough ballpark of what to expect. :)

iirc, plates should all remain the same. It's just the top/bottom parts that are slightly different for Model 2 & 3. Hopefully sprit will be able to confirm soon.

At best, everything should arrive at my place and be ready to be delivered by late first week/early 2nd week of Sept. The FaceW PCB doesn't have any DIP switches on board, so the case wasn't designed to have cutouts. :/
Plus, it would look funny with a cutout on acrylic IMO.

Sorry for the R2 Production delay!
The Cases are under Finalizing.
I had to solve one critical Issue on the PCB Bolts for the Compatibility for 2mm Poker Bolts and 3mm Standard PCB standoff Screws.
Finally I had to custom order to a factory. I've produced custom compatible Screws. It took so much time than expected, Now All are Fixed.
60% PCBs are in the SMT Pre-soldering Factory,
due to some Parts(diodes, capacitors..) changed for a better SMT work.

I had this discussion with sprit yesterday, and he said the lower case LEDs are just soldered onto the regular switch LED legs below. You have the option to bend the side LEDs 45-60° to position the angle properly for proper lighting. :)
Is this soldering onto existing top side LEDs, because this causes the top LEDs to be dimmer.

LEDs are hooked up in parallel, and sprit has told me that the sprit PCB's controller is able to provide enough current without any noticeable dimming. He also told me Poker IIs should not have a problem either, due to small 60% size. Shipment will most likely be delayed, and there may not be enough time for me to receive & pack it before I have to leave on the night of October 1 (to complete some unfinished stuff from last month's family emergency overseas). I'm sorry for the bad news, but I hope you can appreciate the transparency and updates. :-[ I'll be returning on Oct 10, and can finish packing over the weekend. Everything will go out on the 13th.
In the meantime, Sprit is focusing on packing remaining individual orders.

So what does this all mean? Shipment will most likely be delayed, and there may not be enough time for me to receive & pack it before I have to leave on the night of October 1 (to complete some unfinished stuff from last month's family emergency overseas). I'm sorry for the bad news, but I hope you can appreciate the transparency and updates. :-[ I'll be returning on Oct 10, and can finish packing over the weekend. Everything will go out on the 13th.
In the meantime, Sprit is focusing on packing remaining individual orders.

Didn't take pictures of the packing since I'm on such a tight schedule (will be leaving in a couple hours). I did take a pic of the gigantic box though. :p

Bottom :
- Remove the Protection coats on the top surface only.
- Clean up the dirts and oils around the holes
- Clean up the remaining dirts at the edges
- Screw the PCB Raisers to the Bottom Case (Do Not force! Gently!)
Top :
- Remove the Protection coats on the bottom side only.
- Clean up the remaining dirts at the edge
- Screw the Top Layer with the Bottom (Do Not force! Gently!)
Feet :
- Remove the Protection coat, screw the Feet to the Bottom.
- Put the Bumpons to the Bottom

Yes they will be compatible, no idea on the second one, and i think he said he will put up some tutorials, but not sure when. Maybe someone else will put them up. I might make one in a few days if i have extra time.

Although I do have the same issues mentioned by others:
1. My poker's plate sits above the top of the case. I'd like the 5mm extra plate when that becomes available. I thought about placing washers between the two current plates, but there are no screws to secure the case on the sides, so it would just flex ):
2. My cable also didnt fit. It was the stock Poker II cable. I had to take a knife and shave off some plastic from the connector.

I took some 22mm screws that sprit included for special layered case / extra tall feet to screw in the 3 layers together. Here are the results:
Didn't remove the protective film, as this was just a photo demonstration. You can see that the screws are different, and aren't concave like the ones you guys received.

The little wing cover would actually get in the way of the top left key if you have the trapezoid facing inwards. If you flip it around, there should be no problems.

In the last picture, that silver line you see below the plate and above the case is the space bar stabilizer.

That works for me.
My current setup is the Clear Lime on bottom and a Matte Clear on top. So if I can just sandwich the extra 5mm clear plate in between, that's perfect.

I guess it's a combination of the screws being terrible and my screwdrivers all being terrible. I don't know. All I know is only two of them came out and the rest don't budge at all so all I'm doing is slowing stripping them.
Gotta find the perfect size one and put a lot of downward pressure while slowly turning the screw.
Its a pain in the ass, I nearly stripped a few of the screws on my Poker II (and one of them came half-stripped yay)

I thought about it, but I really like the transparent look over the frosted look. It's crystal clear, it's pretty cool. ;D

The top of the case isn't too bad with the fingerprints, it's the bottom and sides. I pick it up every few days to swap between my other boards, and the bottom and edges get pretty grimy after a few swaps. All is definitely good though, I love this thing!
I forgot to mention this in my original post, but Zeal was great to deal with. He put up with all of my questions and even took a few pictures of different colour combos of the case. Prompt and fast shipping, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. :thumb:

Hi, I'm kind of interested in getting the case from this for my Poker II, although I am somewhat confused at what I should be selecting from the order form that would be for a Poker II, I read through the whole thread earlier but it didn't really help me. Can someone clarify what/how I would need to order in order to get parts for a case for my Poker II? Thank you for the help and I apologize if it was stated somewhere blatantly obvious and I managed to miss it.
you would need to order a top,middle, and bottom layer for the case. if you want the case to be flush with the poker plate (which most of us prefer), you can ask for a 5mm thick top layer. I believe all layers are 8mm thickness by default...

Model 2S case comes with a 5mm bottom, 5mm mid & 5mm extended plate that works as top as well. 2S cases are made to fit the PCB (since the top piece is the plate). My kit is a poker compatible kit w/o case.

I'm getting some issues on Mac OSX (tested on yosemite hackintosh, mavericks hackintosh, yosemite macbookpro. works on windows 7 and in bios). It was working fine until a few days ago, when it started to skip keys. Replugging fixed it. However yesterday, even that fix stopped working. Keypresses are now out of order, repeated incorrectly (eg. typig "hello" quickly sometimes -> "ehlo"), or plainly skipped whenever I type faster than ~20 wpm.
I've tried swapping usb cables, adding a powered usb hub, changing computers, resetting keymap, flashing both GKP and NKRO firmwares.
Anyone else seeing these problems? Any ideas on how to fix this, short of porting over tmk? Not really happy considering this is my first custom keyboard and I'm speed limited to 20wpm :(

Polycarboante Plates feel harder, more solid to Acrylic with same thickness, as we experience in our daily life with bottles, cups, plastic boxes.
CNC machined Polycarb plates had failed MOQ in the GB last year, but for 60% only this time. MOQ = 20 ::)

1. TEX silver looks impressive in rpeterclark's build. :o
2. Topre feel may get with : my 55g - 60g possibly. I have HHKB original, HHKB pro, Pro2, sold Type S. As you say they are very different from Cherry MX.
I've tried my MX springs be cushiony at bottom out. I love the feels of Topre - Ninja's Walking. ;)

Question about the plates offered in this group buy: Are the switches and everything PCB mounted, and does the plate just slide on top, or does it work like steel/alu plates, i.e. the switches are firmly placed (effectively mounted) on the plate?It's like a classic plate, only this thicker (5mm) , it allows switch top removal but you can not slide the plate up. You get a firm fix ;)

Question about the plates offered in this group buy: Are the switches and everything PCB mounted, and does the plate just slide on top, or does it work like steel/alu plates, i.e. the switches are firmly placed (effectively mounted) on the plate?
If you're using the acrylic plate in this GB, you can choose either plate or pcb mounted switches.
The plate goes on top of the pcb, the acrylic plate however has notches for switch top removal if that's what you're wondering. :)

Thanks for the info about the plates: that's what I thought originally, but then I saw [this](http://imgur.com/a/9tzsv) build on reddit and it seemed to me that he might have been first soldering the switches to the PCB and only then putting in the plate, which didn't make a lot of sense to me. So I asked ;)
No worries. I'm guessing s/he was just mounting the stabs on the pcb before putting the plate on top. :)

As we feel the Polycarbonate cups, Acrylic panels daily life,
If the both are same thick, Acrylic is a bit softer, Polycarbonate tends a little bit stiff generally, afaic.
But most of the Acrylic plates introduced are 1.5mm thick - It's too Fragile, I don't like them, I'd prefer the 5mm thick Acrylic Plate for it is strong, soft and quiet enough.
The most of the Korean Polycarb plates introduced are 1.5mm thick - It's flexible and strong, but usually the designs are focused on the soft feels side, for the 50g - 62g light pressure lovers in Korea. Personally I prefer 3mm-5mm thick Polycarb plates.

I'd say the Acrylic is a little bit softer and quieter than Polycarbonate in general.
But the Polycarbonate plate needs CNC machining, so the cost is 2-3 times higher than the Laser cut Acrylic, and more cutting error wastes.
If You cut the Acrylic by CNC machining, the cost will be almost same. The raw material prices differ less than 30%.

How does this PCB compare to the competition/recent PCB's, as usual, there isn't too much info from MK itself, but it's exciting that they sell this PCB

Usage: put your faceW into the bootloader mode (hold 'Q' while plugging in; all LEDs should flash), and then run './bootloadHID <something.hex>' in a terminal.

I think Hasu has developed also a USB tmk converter.
For me the ps2avr firmware is good enough, and very easy to use, no need for compilers and stuff like that, just map everything directly, just a text editor is what you need, it works even with Vi/Vim :d
But I know many want all the fancy stuff tmk has so I can sort of understand ;D

If you look on this picture https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/images/products/large_1353_20150804_133352.jpg you can see under the USB connector leads for GND +/- that look like PS/2 , so in theory it might work this way . Can't say for sure.

I had a chance to test PS2 over USB + PS2-tmk-USB with a WASD V2, it was better than the real thing, so I'm hoping it will work similarly with sprit PCB's too - it was automatic as in (a)

The only homebrew PCB I've seen that would allow for control of individual LEDs is the GH60 (the real one, not the chinese clones). And even that one only has the LEDs routed to a series of pads, where an extra LED controller (not designed yet) should come in. Controlling that many LEDs requires lot of pins (not enough on the usual atmegas), so a dedicated controller.
Certainly there is no firmware around that would control that many LEDs.

The only homebrew PCB I've seen that would allow for control of individual LEDs is the GH60 (the real one, not the chinese clones). And even that one only has the LEDs routed to a series of pads, where an extra LED controller (not designed yet) should come in. Controlling that many LEDs requires lot of pins (not enough on the usual atmegas), so a dedicated controller.
Certainly there is no firmware around that would control that many LEDs.
At this point I don't need it, but it would certainly help someone in the future, if you have a spare PCB lying around, otherwise I might do it myself too, when I receive the PCB's in <1 months
330R/470R makes a lot of sense by the way, with a rough calculation it amounted to ~0,4A for 60 leds with full power
at 330R, these would pull 540ma at full power: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11448 - but with an 2v forward voltage, they are the lowest I've seen amongst the 3mm leds that are available (so I'm guessing if it's 330, not all leds are safe to use at full power, but 470 would probably be ok)

EDIT: @von_braun: the faceW does support and off-center caps lock, with LED as well. However if you mean that you want a switch which stays down (like MX lock), I didn't see any option for that in the Koreans' configuration tool, so the firmware probably does not support that directly. You can however program it to be (say) left shift, which would mean that when the switch stays down, it will behave as if you would be pressing left shift continuously. That's not quite what Caps Lock normally does, but...

I think I misunderstood your question the first time, so here I go again (after staring at my faceW for a while). as far as I can tell, mechanically and electrically speaking, you can put MX Lock switch at the caps lock position, either "centered", or "stepped" (="off-center", the switch is not in the middle of the keycap, but to the left).
However if you want to put a led in it, you will *have* to use the stepped switch position (that's because MX Lock's LED is at a different position than in a normal switch, it's more to the right DT wiki (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_MX_Lock) - but the good news is that it should actually work in a universal PCB like faceW).

For those of you who are using faceW (or any other board using bootloadHID bootloader, e.g. the winkeyless PCBs) on Mac OS X - here's a compiled binary executable for flashing these on OS X (Yosemite). Just one file in the zip, bootloadHID, compiled straight from the original Objective Development (https://www.obdev.at/products/vusb/bootloadhid.html) sources. It does exactly the same thing as bootloadHID.exe from SPRiT.
Usage: put your faceW into the bootloader mode (hold 'Q' while plugging in; all LEDs should flash), and then run './bootloadHID <something.hex>' in a terminal.
Maybe someone finds this useful.
I think I might find this useful, thanks a lot for sharing this, I checked the ps2avrU source code a bit to see if it's easily configurable, it wasn't, I might PM you soon to learn about your experiences
I'm probably going to leave the ps2avrU, native firmware at a very basic but useful state and do the remapping with a tmk_keyboard PS2_to_USB or USB_to_USB remapper, as the project is active

Sadly, there is little option other than to wait and hope. The nature of these group buys is such that they frequently take longer than expected, and usually last beyond PayPal's dispute period. A large amount of trust is placed in these organizers, and a lot of leeway is given with delays, as these are generally run by fellow enthusiasts. In almost every case, that trust and leeway are deserved, and they come through, even if it takes longer than is first planned.
In this situation, for the first 18 months, Sprit would post with relative frequency and reply to personal messages. Many of these turned out to be misleading, such as promises that orders were packaged and ready to ship the next day and then neve received or updated. But, some orders were still shipped, so people just hoped and trusted Sprit would come through. However, for the past 6+ months, he has not responded to personal messages about old orders, replied to emails, or posted in their threads.
In my opinion, intentions aside, Sprit has abused the trust built by the hard work and sweat of other organizers. That is, to me, inexcusable and an abuse of the community, and worse than simply stealing hundreds of dollars or more from members.
In any case, as it has been for two years, all we can do now is wait. What is the alternative?
It is possible he will come around and ship or refund these orders. Even now he appears to be shipping some orders, and that gives people just enough hope to keep waiting, I suppose.

He is very "particular" as to whom and when he responds.
I'd ask you to ask him directly for us what is going on, but that's not your responsibility.
I would, however, recommend that you not order anything from him. He has proven unreliable, and he should not be rewarded with further orders.
Even if you get yours, you are supporting him. But I know it's hard to find some parts everywhere so it can feel worth the gamble.
I almost forgot, I hit my 2-year Sprit order anniversary, and probably a year or so since any direct contact. Yay?
I know the mods want to, and generally should, stay out of these issues, but I really think Sprit should be shut down.
He's making money and yet refusing to even refund or acknowledge old orders. It's absurd.

The sort of thing that DanielT said is exactly why I'm so angry about what's going on with Sprit and why I cannot let it go. Frankly, my ~$300 is almost certainly gone, and I'm actually "OK" with that.
What really makes me angry is that by doing this, and selectively responding to people that he feels inclined to fulfill order for, Sprit is taking advantage of the good will built up by the community and other group buy organizers and basically <redacted> on it.

+1 to that. My order consists of 1 PCB, 1 plate, and switches...if that's "complex" then I don't know what to say. To my knowledge, the 4mm aluminum plate that I ordered never got made either, so who knows what's going to happen to the $40 I paid for that line item IF I ever see the rest of the order anyway...

I am sorry for this, but I think the attitude is the best you can get on the issue.
At this point it is what it is. I'm not tremendously upset about losing the money- but I was really excited for these plates. There's still a part of me that might hold on hope that one day they'll be delivered- but I can't stare at these unfinished boards anymore.
I do feel like sprit is getting off a little too easy on this, but I'll leave it at that and keep the rest of my opinions to myself.

Hi sprit, I'm interested in a frosted one too, will get one if that helps the MOQ. But with such a thick plate, will you have to hot glue the switches to the plate first? I don't know if Cherry switches are designed to clip properly into such a thick plate. How do you get the switches to stay still in the thick plate while soldering?

My 5mm thick Acrylic Plates have succesful records among people for three years, as stable, no problem to align.
So the 5mm Polycarb Plates will be the same.
Please Check out the build blogs!
Oh! Press the switch into the plate, solder one leg, check alignment, then solder the other, one by one. Thats all

I like the look of the case, but can't really afford $200 right now, maybe for round 2!The case is the last one in my priority. I always focus on the switch and lube and springs first, as it is the engine of the board, then proper plate for my favorite typing feelings.
Its very wise choice not to over invest on the case, in my opinion. :thumb:

Every Format is a dogma to be broken and overcome.
Lets Save 0.5u from the current Tab 1.5u, Caps 1.75u, Shift 2.25u, and Save another 0.5u from the current backspace 2u, Enter 2.25u, Shift 2.75u.
We will get new extra 0.5u + 0.5u = 1u for the 68% Layout.
Just need 1u Tab, 1.25u blank Caps, 1.75u Shift (Oh! we got this already!), 1.5u BS, 1.75u Enter(same as 1.75u Caps), 2.25u Shift(Oh! we have this) and a Spacebar.

Something like this - I left out Insert, but if you want to split the left shift it could be placed in there. I also replaced Caps Lock with Fn.

I'm not sure how the forum works, but it is possible that he set his PM's to buddies and admins only (he also said something implying that in the past, because he likes e-mail support more).
Edit: No idea if anyone tried it yet, tbh I don't even care enough to keep my messages in that setting, so I'll set them back to normal now.

There are other places to buy a pcb and I highly recommend you go with any of them. Disappearing for weeks and ignoring old buys while sneakily starting new buys in pre-approved threads is no way to do business.
