Title: Do black HHKB Pro 2 Keys get Shiny?
Post by: vedtopkar on Tue, 22 July 2014, 00:22:04
I have somewhat oily fingers and have get to buy a black-keyed mechanical. I do know that my Macbook Pro's black keys have gotten pretty shiny over time because of extended use without thorough cleaning.

Do the HHKB's black keys succumb to the same effect? Or will a regular wipe-down be enough to keep them from shining for some time?

Welcome to Geekhack!

The space bar is ABS and will shine with moderate use.

The rest are PBT and normally will not shine for many years.

It might depend what type of oil you have on your fingers, and what is in it, as to whether it will affect PBT keycaps.
