Hi all!
I'm new to all this, but since the ErgoDox went up on massdrop again now, i'm thinking of trying it out. I've read some criticism (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=58673.0 (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=58673.0)) and now i'm wondering if my hands are the right size for the ErgoDox, and if my thumbs will be relaxed when using it or not.
So, i haven't had any luck finding out the exact dimensions for the ErgoDox case yet - but if i had those, i could print it out on paper to see if the keys seems to fit my hands. Does anyone here have an ErgoDox, and would you mind measuring the dimensions of it (as exact as possible) so that i print it out?
Thanks!

A pic I found with inches (Why 'murica? Why?) which seem to match my case from czarek (http://falbatech.pl/) also http://deskthority.net/wiki/ErgoDox#Case

For me the vertical buttons are pretty natural resting point in thumb cluster and easy to use. The 1x buttons in thumb cluster are hard to reach so mostly I don't use them, haven't really had use for them either.

The tricky thing about thumb clusters is that you can customize them in a way. People have put an extra key between the key blocks; plainbriny has cut his thumb clusters and oriented them vertically; you can tent the ergodox and use keycaps of various profiles as well (I'm actually thinking of converting my ergodox to 80key layout as a part of this). Moreover, you don't have to use thumb clusters at all, and configure the keyboard to a typematrix-like layout.

Thanks a lot @Harrowed! I thought i searched around for ages, but i never found that!
I've printed out a paper version now, and when i get back home I'll lay it over some cardboard and try some keycaps on top of it! :-)
Also, PDF versions with the correct scale, if anyone else wants to do the same:

Tilting ergodox will help a lot in terms of thumb comfort.

I had hard to reach some keys on ergodox, so this is my "ergonomic" version of ergodox, made with some easy modifications: , switches are ALPS !

Woah! That was actually pretty nice. Did you use sugru? If not, how permanent is it? I'll probably want to try out something similar if i end up getting an ergodox and i'm not happy with the ergonomics. Simple, but very effective, it seems!

didn't know about sugru, but thx for the tip, i will consider it the next time :), I have used common white-clay, it doesn't seems to be very solid so I added a layer of transparent "nails painting" which makes it much more solid, and used some glue/hot-silicon for put the parts togheter, seems solid, i hope that is enough solid! but i will only know after some months of usage :)

Excuse me for not replying earlier... I made this printable PDF a few months ago for those who wanted to try out the layout on paper:

I did. It required a customized plate and some careful drilling in the PCB. Here's my post with pictures (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=22780.msg1350750#msg1350750). Send me a PM if you want the CAD files.
