Title: Staples' Penny Sale Brings Unexpected Result

I thought this was an interesting article. Staples, in an effort to woo New York state agencies into contracting with them to purchase office supplies, offered a variety of products for sale to them at one cent apiece, hoping to expand their customer base. The result wasn't quite what they wished for though....

i don't think they could've expected to sell most of that stuff at retail price anyway.. most of it would've just been discount liquidated...

no, but there wasn't ever that much stock of the stuff to begin with..  they would've never taken as big a hit as the Funny Numbers indicate..

On top of that.. do we really believe it costs $10 to make a bucket of paper clips?
