Do you guys think this thing can be an alternative to trackballs, kinda?
I know it's more like a mouse, but the way it scrolls is a spin of the whole mouse.
I'm debating between getting this and a kensington.

seems like a lot of work just to scroll ... i prefer page down or of course old school microsoft scroll wheels

"and a series of 'squeeze' buttons which give a 'right click'"
I can't imagine how that would be comfortable. Looks like a nonstop flight to RSI hell.
"Or, it can be configured as the 'middle mouse button' for complete compatibility with your applications."
So the middle mouse button could be at any position with respect to your fingers depending on where you last stopped scrolling, even tucked right under your palm. And there's no way to get it out into a more natural position without scrolling something ...
Plus, having to take your hand off the mouse in order to scroll seems like a big hassle.
Continuous scrolling is nice, but having to design around all these problems seems to diminish any benefit that gives you.

Engadget wrote a review awhile back, and they said they liked it, but I with skeptical crowd. It just doesn't look like it offers any better experience than any other mouse on the market. I bought a MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse OMGWTFBBQFTW 11tybillion 6000 about 8 months, or so, ago and never looked back. IMO, it has the perfect combination of ergonomics and features for what I need at work.

hey ripster what do you think about the kensington trackball you have? I was thinking of getting that one too.
-
yea I want to use a trackball whenever I'm not playing a game. There is no need to rest your hand in an uncomfortable position when you're supposed to be. lol (if that made any sense)

try a logitech trackball at your local comp store. i did, and i liked it. then i proceeded to get a microsoft optical 1.0 because i really wanted a back and forward button. ive officially switched to the trackball effortlessly and my right wrist is loving me for it.

That sounds good. I think I'll go search around like staples/best buy and try them out before getting them. My right wrist don't really like the mice that I currently have so I must make a change.

Does it feel like a boobie? I'd buy it if it felt like a boobie. hehe

I shouldn't really revive a dead thread but I bought an Orbita and I wasn't impressed. I used it for a little while, but didn't really see a huge difference from my G9 and its microgear scroll wheel. The fact that it feels like a early iMac era peripheral doesn't help either. I haven't really tested it in video or audio applications, but if you want information, I'll try to help out.

That "Orbita" mouse reminds me of those old Crapple mice that came with the Imac G3's. They aren't the most ergonomic things in the world...
