Title: Do all noppoo choc mini keyboards have wireless functionality?
Post by: P3TC0CK on Sun, 03 August 2014, 06:12:43
Just found out they were while I was looking at 84 key keyboards for someone else. I can't believe I didn't read or hear about it when I was asking around about wireless keyboards. Looks like it's built by the same company as my plum keyboard. Case material, feet, symbols, and the wireless adapter are all the same.

Hope buyer's remorse doesn't set in

No, not all Choc minis have wireless capability. AFAIK there're only those who were sold on Massdrop a few weeks ago that are actually wireless!

the wireless and the wired are both on Massdrop right now. I'm thinking about the wireless one for work, they seem nice in blue or red with the back light option.

The nice thing is that they actually come with POM keycaps, even if they are backlit ^_^

I think the 15 dollar difference is absolutely worth it. It uses the same wireless set up as my plum morphling keyboard, and the fact that you're able to use any mini USB cable you want is in my opinion enough to warrant 15 dollars more, let alone the bonus wireless functionality you get. I'm not sure if the caps are actually POM on the wireless ones though. My keyboard were listed as POM in the seller stats but in the images for my keyboard they were listed as ABS.

The keycaps on the wireless listing look like the same material as mine:

I believe they are POM, but coated like many backlit ABS sets. You can do the water test to check (if they float they're ABS, sink they're POM).

I don't like the fact that they're coated, I'd rather feel the POM material directly.

They sink. Strange, I don't know why the description for my keyboard would list them as ABS in their advertising.

Likely because they were confused.
I think noppoo has sold keyboards with all three keycap materials or at least from what I've read.

Yep, you're right.. the "older" backlit (that are not from the massdrop sales) were ABS, while the nonlit "older" were PBT, and then we have the massdrop ones that are POM no matter what ^^  there might be more variations though, I dunno

What model has bluetooth connectivity? The wireless models listed on massdrop and amazon right now both have 2.4GHz ...
