Anyone ever considered putting a GPS tracker inside your keyboard in case it was stolen OR lost by USPS??
OR perhaps have a built in chip on a custom board that sends out some signal so you could track that....
Thoughts/Ideas?

Clearly you are unfamiliar with the secret USPS keyboard thievery department. They steal everything from clacks to keyboards and all things in between. ;)

not the loominarty then?

Sounds like a great idea

Depending on the value of the item in question, the cost of a GPS tracking device may or may not be worth the investment.

Maybe not GPS, but if you were able to embed code in the firmware that could ping a server over the Internet, you might be able to locate it via IP.
Since it'd be a wired keyboard, whomever steals your keyboard will more than likely plug it into a computer. That computer will also more-than-likely be connected to the Internet, so it might be possible.
Just a thought.

+1, a much more feasible idea.

Physical Key logger sounds fun, too.
Combined with GPS you could do a lot of damage.

Someone presented a working version of that at defcon a few years back.

lemme just take of my tin foil hat right quick to answer the question.

Save your money and just use FedEx.

I've shipped other items through USPS for years and never had any issues, is this a common thing for keyboards or something? Seems a bit excessive.

GPS tracking for custom keycaps,e specially the rare CCs, sounds like a good idea too!
Unless GPS hardware has decreased in size, this would only be applicable to giant-sized keycaps.

For the record to anyone who might be serious enough to attempt this: placing active tracking devices inside parcels violates the terms of a at least a few shipping companies, DHL among them.

I did not know this...thanks for the heads up.
