Title: Kinesis is vomiting ASCII
Post by: LONGZILLA on Wed, 06 August 2014, 13:42:01
About once or twice a day, my Kinesis Advantage will go

It'll start typing in ASCII and won't stop until I unplug/replug the USB, e.g. here's the output from typing alpha keys  ƒ´∑僴∑å©´∑婸∆´©ø嵩å˚©µç≤©µΩ¬.
Not sure if it's getting into some weird mode or just fubar, any ideas? I've had it as my daily driver for roughly 6-years, perhaps the firmware is old?

For what it's worth, it's the Kinesis Advantage over USB on a Mac.

Have you tried contacting Kinesis support? I've heard they are very helpful. Even though it isn't under warranty they still might be able to help you figure out if you're totally screwed or not.

It's always faster to contact tech support.

Anyways, not sure why those string of characters are being generated. Perhaps you can provide more clues:

-When this problem occurs, does the keyboard make a rapid click sound? Does the keypad light turn on/off? Have you recently tried resetting the keyboards memory (Progrm+Shift+F10)?
