Title: My road to become a U.S citizen
Post by: asassdsd on Tue, 12 August 2014, 20:14:39
Hi guys, I haven't been here for too long. But I gotta let it off my chest.

After tons of trouble, the USCIS FINALLY accepted my application to naturalization!!!!  :D :D :D

I immigrated to the US in 2007 as a Permanent Resident(conditional) when I was 14.
7 Years later here I am.

Just got the mail today from UCSIC scheduling me to take my fingerprints!!!

Will post pics later on progress :p :p :p

If people are interested as in what trouble i encounter I will explain.

??

It doesn't really make sense to naturalize unless you're about to retire within the next 20 years..

Anyone younger, we're probably going to run out of retirement funds,  and anyone OLDER, may as well pick up their cash and go to newzealand or australia or malta

it helps with tax things a lot i think

even if not, you can still say that you're a US citizen, which is really good

and think of the international things that gets you

have you ever seen a US embassy?

Congrats! I became a citizen about 3 years ago myself! Did they play this song at the end? I teared up a little bit!

Congrats to Vesper too.  :thumb:

I know the pain, bro. I know the pain too well. Congrats! Hopefully, you won't have to take multiple long trips to the immigration office... mine was hours away...

Thanks!

Dood, I had to try so hard not to laugh the first time I heard that at my dad's ceremony. My brother and I simultaneously gave each other the side glance when the music started...

Soon I will join you and millions of others. Good thing I'll also be a dual citizen (Hong Kong).

Be careful.  Look into the tax laws.  I am a U.S. (naturalized) Russian (born) dual citizen, and the U.S. gets rather upset when you choose to live in a different country.  Something to consider if you are thinking of living anywhere else in the future.

Too be quite honest, I love the USA, so unless its something really tempting and important in my life I would like to stay here :)

This woman I was dating became a citizen while we were dating.  She said it felt the exact same as the day before and the naturalization oath had a bunch of patriotic BS in it.

But congrats.  I'm sure you are more thrilled about it.

Nice, hopefully it goes smoothly.

It doesn't take that long, I remember it took about 6 months for me.

I had to do mine for my job but it was something I wanted to do in the future anyways.
