Title: What layout is this keyboard?
Post by: Karura on Thu, 14 August 2014, 23:05:53
I found this intriguing keyboard layout, it's almost revolutionary. Does anyone know what it is called?

That's called "Crayola ultimate ergonomic matrix layout for small hands"....  - NOT.

Actually it's a travesty to be teaching kids nowadays to use QWERTY as it's such a bad layout in terms of ergonomics.

Ah yes, that is the Crayola EZ Type 1300 layout.  I believe this particular model shipped with stock MX Red switches.  Keycaps are doubleshot ABS using the Comic Sans font.  There were only 3000 manufactured in this configuration from April to July 2013 exclusively for engineering programs at MIT and NASA Dryden.

I just want that Dino board that Filco put out since I *know* that's mechanical. But anything fun like this and I'm all over as long as it's mechanical.

MIT engineers use this keyboard?

Begging your pardon, but today isn't April 1.

Or it's for the summer programs they run at MIT and NASA where they have younger kids come in to learn about STEM. Beginning your pardon, but today isn't April 1.

The Filco Dino is my endgame keyboard.  :p

Looks like one sold on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sicon-DinoKidz-101-Key-ADB-Keyboard-USED-Vintage-Mac-/360946981458?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item540a1dda52&nma=true&si=5ks%252BIi1hd8WyUZVShdttLV5103k%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) in May, so there is hope.

You planning to replace the original Alps clone switches with Matias switches? Or has someone found a Cherry version?

Is it strange that I actually kind of want this ... since the Filco Dino boards are so hard to come by.
