Title: Difference between FC660C/HHKB feeling?
Post by: Premonition on Mon, 18 August 2014, 19:22:09
Hey guys, I've had an FC660C for a while and a friend of mine has an HHKB which I've only heard of.. just wanted to ask, is there a difference in feel? I really like Topre and finding something even better would be pretty awesome. Also, thoughts about the silenced HHKB?

The FC660C feels more solid and has a more metallic thunk due to its metal plate. The HHKB feels snappier and produces a more raindrop-like thock sound. If you do some searching, you can find a lot of discussion about this exact topic. :)

W/r/t HHKB Type-S, a lot of people are getting units lately that "whistle" -- including me. I would suggest staying away from the new Type-S boards until that issue is addressed by the mfg. Of course, YMMV, some people find that the sound goes away after a while, some people may not be bothered by it, etc.
