I'm guessing they tried it with a cheap adapter and it didn't work. I can't believe a business like that couldn't be bothered to test it (pretty much as dorkvader is suggesting).

I would have liked to get one just to photograph the hand-wired internals (there aren't enough "good" photos to my liking), then resell at cost.
