Title: Attempting to make custom keycaps. Need tips.
Post by: keybee on Fri, 22 August 2014, 21:12:48
I've been working on making my own custom keycaps because it looks like a fun thing to do. Unfortunately AIR BUBBLE CITY.  I'm super new at this and have been reading up all on the ways the experts here have been doing it. But can't afford things like a pressure pot...

If anyone has any tips or tricks to get rid of air bubbles without a pressure pot. Like inserting sprues without messing up heads and faces or details...please share!!

Thank you so much!!

Cute, the one on the right reminds me of Bulbasaur.

Your problem on the hands for #2 and #5 (from the left) looks like it might be caused by too much overhang.  If you make new molds where those parts have vents to the top (it will force you to clean extra nubs, ::sadface::) it should fix the problems you're having there.

you tube is your friend. watch videos for creating a bubble free casts in there and see what is suitable with your style.

Unfortunately its not 100% solution and if you really are serious and making this more than a hobby, pressure pot is really what you need.

Good luck!
