Uses nearly the exact same legends and keys from the IBM Model M, but compatible with Cherry MX Switches. It will come in SA profile, and I will work on this more if it gets generally good feedback.

Link to /r/mechanicalkeyboards thread, just because chances are I will only update it there.

I have been thinking about a keyset very similar to this for a number of months.
The problem is you're stuck with SP regular font.
We need to raise roughly $5000 to get Cherry Replica legends molds made in SA.
I've got some shots of a lasered Cherry set that I think the color is fantastic on.

There HAS to be some project that could get people excited enough that we could break 200 orders.

tdc mentioned exactly what I said on /r/MK. It's impossible to make this on SA.
What if we combine efforts? Olimitto is similar to this.

This set cries "dyesub PBT" to me ... which I think would mean DSA or DCS though.

Really it's screaming "OG Cherry Doubleshot Replica" from GMK.
So if we can get 250 I'd say go Cherry over SA.
But I dont know. The keyboard life is tough.

I was thinking exactly this :thumb:

Either go in REAL and hard, or simply give up. Always go to GMK and fight like hell to get authentic key-caps made in the traditional way :thumb: .

Well said.

Hmm.... I think both GMK doubleshots and PBT dyesub would work for this colourway, but I'd lean towards GMK doubleshots.
Problem is, if you really want the IBM fonts and character sizing, original text, etc. you're going to have to go dysesub PBT. GMK only have Cherry legend doubleshot molds.
You could of course get SP to make the PBT SA profile caps and get IMSTO or some other 3rd party to dyesub them.
I vote for 3-1-2-3-4-3 row profile SA PBT with IMSTO dyesub! Very old-skool :D

Will IMSTO dyesub SA? And does SP do SA in PBT?
Assuming that's all possible then it sounds great.

The IBM beige two-tone color theme only appeared together with cylindrical caps with the first Model Fs in the Eighties. I don't know of any original IBM spherical key caps in that color theme. With sphericals, the colors were rather black and white, or different grays, or in more daring colors. There's the beige Displaywriter keyboard that was released in 1980, but it's monochrome.
So combining sphericals and this color set seems ahistorical, certainly not "OG IBM" (whatever that should mean).
