Title: A key for Logitech K270?
Post by: btchi on Sun, 07 September 2014, 09:24:28
Any idea where to get keys for the Logitech K270? I'm after a single key.

According to them, no. Unless their customer support in different regions gives different answers?

Then I'm afraid you're stuck. Only option would be to find a second hand board and harvest what you need from it.

As far as I know, it's not a "mechanical" board and as such doesn't have keycaps compatible with other keyboard sliders, so there are no 3rd party keycaps that will fit, so Logitech is the only place to get matching caps.

That's unfortunate. Turns out what they sell around here is similar to UK layout, which is the worst I know. I think the actual PCB is the same between layouts, just with different key tops, some of which plug into more than one "slot" below. If so, I could cut unneeded key traces on the PCB, or block somehow the circuit closing of these keys. But I also need alternate keys to fix the physical layout. Guess I'll try to rig something up.

So, thanks.

If anyone has other ideas, chime in.

How about buying a board with Cherry MX switches so you can get replacement keycaps easily? Also, major upgrade in key feel.

I wasn't looking for anything fancy or expensive, just a wireless keyboard with a decent layout. The choice is limited in general, and further limited because I don't want two receivers for the keyboard and mouse. Sadly Bluetooth is rare.

yeah wireless just isn't there yet for high end. You have got get something like this (http://www.iogear.com/product/GUWIP204/) if you want a good keyboard to become wireless.

It needed to be wireless and mobile, so a bulky USB-to-wireless adapter isn't suitable (nevermind the high price tag). What would be nice to have is a small USB/PS2-to-Bluetooth adapter with a rechargeable battery that you can stick at the bottom of the keyboard.

Thanks. Are these for me? :) They're certainly UK layout (=bad), and even worse than what I have not being standard 104-key. And they cost a fortune.

Well, it's wireless and mobile and it also comes in ANSI layout. A wireless mobile full size board seems like contradiction in terms to me.

I find it hard to recommend a board to anyone that isn't mechanical. They just feel so much better to use. You get what you pay for, unless the marketing department has run amock like with some "gamer" keyboards.
