Title: Custom IBM Model M/F key caps!

DecentKeyboards (https://www.etsy.com/shop/DecentKeyboards (https://www.etsy.com/shop/DecentKeyboards)) has custom dye sublimated color key caps for IBM Model M/F !

Hopefully, they can print custom images and text.

I'm very excited.

$230 for a Mx APL set..... quite steep.


hopefully he does custom single keys or cheaper sets for the BS switches

Looks like $5 per key cap. Really step for a whole keyboard, but I'd buy a few custom control keys for ~$20.

He's using Unicomp blanks and his own dye sublimation printing technique. DyeSub printers aren't cheep, so I suspect he's trying to re-coup his investment.

Of course, at $1 per key cap I'd be ordering up a bunch of custom keys...

I asked the Etsy vendor how much the caps would be and how to submit my custom image. Here's his response:

"Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Price:
Single keycaps (1 - 21 pcs): $28.50 + $1.50 for each pcs. Gray keycap requires additional charge $0.50.

Shipping cost:
The item price is $50 and less: $3
The item price is over $50, or if you wish tracking: $7

Printing image:
Please submit PNG or JPEG file. The size is:
Top: 283 x 319 px
Front: 354 x 295 px. Actual printable size is trapezoid, top side length is 283 px.

Keycap color:
Please specify color of keycaps. Beige and gray are in stock.

So, if we get a group buy for >71 caps, the per cap price is between $1.50 and $2.00.

Who's interested? Also, how does one organize a group buy?

I'd be interested in something like a 1u Super/Win key with some kind of logo (maybe IBM?) and a 1u Fn key. A 1.5u Backspace would be nice, too!

Some of those designs are pretty cool. But do they all come with that side printed text as well?
