Hi guys,
normally this would be an easy question, but at the moment I’m a bit confused.
I’ve watched a lot of pics about caps today and sometime the source said, that the caps on the picture are double shot version. For example this site (http://"http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fht4u.net%2Freviews%2F2012%2Fqpads_mk-gaming-tastaturen_im_test%2Findex6.php&sandbox=1") has an review about the QPAD MK-50, MK-80 and MK-85. If you read the text you see that the writer says that the they use double shot caps.
But in my opinion they are just painted like the caps on my Ozone Strike Pro. I also found the deskthority wiki (http://" http://deskthority.net/wiki/Double-shot_molding ") site and none of the pictures looks like the caps from my Ozone or the QPads.
Thanks for the elucidation.
Peter

Just pull a cap and turn it around. If you see legend-colored plastic inside it's double-shot.

Yeah, doubleshots will look like this.

Not sure if you can pull a keycap though, since it sounds like you are shopping online.

Their website doesn't mention double-shot anything on each product's page.

Shouldn't ninja-post :/ Those caps (http://ht4u.net/reviews/2012/qpads_mk-gaming-tastaturen_im_test/index6.php) are not DS IMHO, they most likely are painted & lasered. The Max Blackbird (http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keyboard-blackbird-tenkeyless-tkl-cherry-mx-backlit-mechanical-keyboard.html) carries the only non-Vortex back-light compatible DS caps I know of and they look very different

Agreed, those are coated not doubleshot caps. Déck also make some doubleshot backlit caps, but the legends... yech.

It's impossible to tell for sure from the top, but there are a few easy ways to tell it's not.
1) If the legends are raised, it's not doubleshot, they're pad-printed
2) If the legends are fuzzy, they're not doublshot, they're dyesub
3) If the legends are faded, they're not doubleshot

there are a few easy ways to tell it's not.
The easiest way is to take a knife or screwdriver and make a very deep gouge across the face of the key.
If the legend remains unchanged, it is a doubleshot.

Most would seek a non-destructive option
If you have the keycap in such a position as to be able to slash it, surely you could simply turn it over ind visually inspect the under side.
