That's everything.
Bought JD40 which uses costar
Can't get the Granite Spacebar to work with the stabilizers.
Switch seems perfectly fine. Works when pressed down.
But when I have stabilizers installed it gets stuck every time.
I've tried reversing the space bar, reversing the inserts, using seram wrap to tighten the insert in the switch and only having the insert in partway
I don't have any other spacebars on hand.
Any suggestions?

Silly question - are you sure the stabiliser inserts are the right way around when you insert them in the space bar stems?
They are not sdymmetric - the longer bit should point towards the top of the keyboard (where the number row would normally be).
-
Costar plate clips (not the inserts) can be finicky if they are not properly seated. Try wiggling them around and making sure they are properly seated on the plate and fully expanded so that the white insert can travel without getting hung up. Try to dry run the white insert in the black clip to make sure theres proper clearance and its not getting hung up from the black clip pinching too far inward.

Yep, made sure of that as well =]
And don't worry, by my post count you can never be too sure xP
I've been told it's possible the switch isn't flush with the PCB

Costar stabilisers tend to be somewhat forgiving about misaligned switches or warped space bars.
I guess they could have their limits.
Can you check the switch, to eliminate that possibility?

There does not seem to be anything wrong with the switch alignment with the plate
I made sure several times that the stabilizer holders were aligned properly on the plate =(
The white inserts have more than enoguh clearance to pass (As in they are not tight in the black holder)

Those are a few pictures that I took for this issue.
If there are other pictures that would help let me know and I'll try and get them ASAP

Next guess is that the extra middle stem on the space bar is rubbing against the switch.
To try to eliminate the stabiliser inserts, can you try removing them, then installing the space bar on the keyboard. Press the space bar ONLY IN THE MIDDLE (so that you do not place sideways stress on the switch or the space bar stem), and see if it still sticks. If it does, then it could be the extra middle stem rubbing against the side of the switch.

I've been using this keyboard for the past two hours without the stabilizers xD It's definitely not the switch itself sticking
From how it feels when pressing the spacebar down with the proper stabilizer installation, there's something that feel like it's going the wrong way then it gets stuck when pressed
Though I've replaced stabilizers, inserts and all that several times

Hmmm, that's about all I can think of.
Maybe someone else with a bit more JD40 knowledge will have an idea.
Worst case - send JD himself a quick PM.

Already discussed it on his thread a bit.
The cherry stabilizers would work on this so that's a worst case scenario (well... Modifying the spacebar or board would be worse for resale value)
I'll see what happens with a spacebar from another set

Did you ever discover a cause / solution for this issue? I have exactly the same problem with my JD40, except mine has cherry stabs. Other spacebars do feel a bit poor, like something isn't quite right, but it's the granite DSA that actually sticks.

Apart from checking that the stabilisers are installed properly, are you sure that the space bar is perfectly straight? Even a slightly warped space bar can stick with Cherry stabilisers - they are much less forgiving.

The switch was actually off by the slightest amount that it passed my first inspection =S
-
The spacebars (I have two) are both straight as far as I can tell. They both work on my other boards with no problems, including the other JD40 I ordered.
I can't see anything wrong with switch or stab, although I don't have a great eye for these things.
Can I get plate mount costar stabilisers from somewhere and just drop one of those in to see if it solves the issue? I don't have a soldering iron at the moment so I'm limited in what I can do.

WASD sells plate mount Costar stabs (2x and 6.25x) :

Without desolder the spacebar switch there's no way to change out a Cherry stab for a Costar stab.

I knew it all along :P

Yea I dun goofed that one xD
Though the beautiful orange JD40 is no longer in my possession since I should be receiving a GoN MobiK soon with the ergo clear switches xD
