Title: Genius mechs
Post by: mouse.the.lucky.dog on Sat, 13 September 2014, 01:11:10
I was looking at mechs on Amazon.
Stumbled across this one http://www.amazon.com/Genius-Illuminated-Mechanical-Notebook-Keyboard/dp/B00LTNZ08E/ref=sr_1_24?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1410586529&sr=1-24&keywords=mechanical+keyboards
made by Genius. There was a bunch of others but this was the first one that I actually checked was mechanical.

Up until now I dod not know that Genius made keyboards, much less mechs.

What's the skinny on them?

Never seen them before, but that actually looks quite damn nice! Completely standard layout, low profile, removable USB, MXswitches, blue backlight. If I still used full size boards I may be tempted. Even has some interesting functions like toggling WASD as arrows.

I have an old Genius rubber dome that has served me very well. It's survived all kinds of abuse and still feels good for a RD keyboard. Actually still got a couple of their mice, also still fully functional. IMHO, they're a reliable brand. Nice to see more companies making mechs.

I know they make kailh switch boards, like the from that infamous broken yellow stem pic.

Those come in TKL too. I've seen those same boards with like 4 or 5 different brand names though so it's unclear who the actual OEM is.

I suppose there could be more than one version, but so far, every picture of these that I have seen that actually shows the switches in the keyboard shows Kailhs.

Until there's some evidence that examples with Cherry switches actually exist, I would err on the side of caution and assume that sellers like this one are mistaken.
