Title: Does a White Mouse pad affect performance?
Post by: woox on Sat, 13 September 2014, 11:39:52
Just curious about this as I saw someone mentioning it. Does anyone have experience or know if a white mouse pad affects performance?

Does it only affect Laser mouse but not Optical?

With that note, would extensive graphics then affect performance?

Overall I don't think so. Some sensors do have worse performance on certain colors, surface textures or with busy graphics. I have a white artisan shiden kai mid that I use with my logitech g700 and don't have any issues with it.

I'd imagine only material effecting any kind of performance.

the LOD is different with different colours for a lot of mice, so it depends. I suppose that could technically mean it alters the performance, but not sure to what degree?

I've heard of specific mice having tracking problems on specific colors but I've never experienced this myself

I think it does although its fully usable and you won't have any issues.

AFAIK some (white) mousepads are too bright for certain (optical) sensors. It can reduce LOD and sometimes max. tracking speed.
