Title: something terrible happened
Post by: TopreFan333 on Sat, 13 September 2014, 14:47:38
This is going to sound insane, but my cat actually puked on my new Keyed Up Labs KUL ES-87. Yeah, WTF. I don't understand it either. Jealousy?

Anyway, it wasn't a TON, and as soon as I got home and discovered it I wiped carefully everywhere and pulled keys around the affected area and used a damp paper towel to wipe everything up.

Long story short: my 0 and - keys are still a bit sticky. They press down and register OK but they don't pop straight back up as they should. I mean they do after a moment, but it takes a second. If I hit them a bunch of times in a row they loosen up but then they seem to get sticky again and being those particular keys, they don't get typed on that often.

Thoughts?

OK after reading elsewhere, I moistened a cloth with a little bit of pure isopropyl alcohol and wiped the switches down and that seems to have gotten it.

Anybody want a free cat?

Well at least I know what her opinion of this keyboard is? She didn't have a problem with my old flat Apple keyboard. Maybe she's angry that this one is not as comfortable to sleep on.

i dunno, maybe your cat is into data entry and saw the lack of a numpad? or maybe its like when you bring a new kid into the house and the old one gets jealous.

its a bit rude whatever the case. try not feeding it tomorrow and if it makes a fuss show him the board. he will know what he did.

You don't have to send the cat alive, do you?
I'm hungry.
(if Sifo isn't going to post those jokes here, then I will)

This is why I hate cats. Worst. Pets. Ever. The most selfish and moody animal on the planet is a house cat. Dogs for the win! They have 10x the personality and are 1000x more loyal. Plus if they're trained properly they don't destroy your ****.

I sometimes watch my cat wash for ages. It's quite mesmerising. Until the spin cycle starts. Yeah, then I just end up getting dizzy.

We already know how Cherry MX Brown switches are made. (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=25632.0)

Now, this is probably the manufacturing secret surrounding long discontinued Cherry MX Yellow switches.

Cat owners seduced by their cuteness wholly accept smelling like cat pee all day, everyday..

OK, now that people have registered their anti-cat views, back to the original point: my poor 0 and - keys are feeling a little sticky again. Everything else is fine. A drop of some kind of oil, I'm guessing? Anything recommended in particular?

Hm, perhaps clean it again and then use some of the thin Krytox that Techkeys or Mechanicalkeyboards.com carries.
