Title: Mech numpad that outputs actual numpad codes?
Post by: Roibhilin on Sun, 14 September 2014, 15:49:15
I have a Poker II as my daily driver right now and I love it but I still need a numpad occasionally for games like Garry's Mod, do you guys know about any good mechanical numpads that output actual BIOS codes and have MX switches?
i would prefer something minimalist looking like a Leopold but i don't know if those fit my criteria

yes...

or...

you can buy ghetto boards like quickfire rapid,  then put in the custom controller, thus making it fully programmable.. (http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/onion-head/admire-onion-head-emoticon.gif?1292862486)

I'd say $150+ or so. Maybe cheaper, if it's one of those acrylic ones. There is a possibility of GH numpads coming down the pipe, I think, but based on gh60's progress....

There was a whole conversation on this here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=49242.0 , plus you can find others if you look. I'm not so sure what numpad does this properly. I do know the Realforce numpads do, but they're not cheap either

I believe the Cherry 3700 outputs correctly. And if not, it's programmable, if you get the correct version, so you should be able to change it?

At the end, the Poker II is programmable, right? Can't you modify it to add a numpad layer? I just did this to my HHKB.

I've heard that newer models of the Leopold 210TP output correct numpad codes, but I haven't been able to confirm this. Has anyone bought the Leopold 210TP from qtan and been able to see if it outputs correct numpad codes? I'll go ahead and link to the product here (http://www.vendio.com/stores/E-sports-Gaming-equipments/item/shop-mechanical-keyboard-by-br/leopold-210tp-mechanical-keypa/lid=35137624).

the custom controller would be a valid route except I'd need an entire keyboard next to me for something I'd only use once in a while but

wow

yeah, I really want the 210TP and i'm definitely getting it if it outputs the right codes now, do you have a link to where people say it got fixed?

I haven't actually found any other users that have said that it works, which is why I've been holding off buying it, but here is a post (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=60537.0) from qtan (the seller) that says that they should work.

pretty sure that cheap goldtouch pads output numpad codes. Or the cherry G80-3700, that's cheap too.

I have a gold touch and cherry at home, I know the cherry outputs numpad codes, will test with the goldtouch later when I'm at my home pc.

The Realforce 87U has a built-in number pad layer that outputs correct codes in Windows. No such luck if you're on a Mac, however.

Maybe not an ideal solution but it would prevent you from having to carry a separate device.

I have a Goldtouch and I can confirm it outputs true numpad.
