does anyone know where to find these rare gems ?

I haven't heard too many good things about them. I was going to get one just for volume control (my stereo receiver is out of reach) - but reading a few reviews, it tries to 'adapt' whatever application has focus. Instead you have to use the Powermate (which it's sole purpose is to send 'keystrokes' with turning the knob) in combination with a macroing program like Keyboard Maestro or AutoHotkey, to get it to control volume no matter what application you're in. I figured it was too much hassle for the price

i owned one for a few years and it worked superlative.
theres program modes and universal modes..
i just leave it on universal and use it soley for volume. this is a fine product to own. and the glowing can be adusted. i just want one in black tho.

I don't know iof someone here asked the question or not, but the seller said that the auction is for the black Powermate.

How does this work in practice? Is it a heavy wheel that you can spin and the faster it goes the quicker it does its stuff?
I've just programmed my SpaceNavigator as a multimedia controller. It's usable, but isn't like the "real thing."

its a heavy piece of machinery. it comes with a program to control anything and its got about 6 commands. like hold the button and turn right, etc..
i wouldnt recommend it for scrolling or editing. i just simply use it for universal volume control. as well as control over itunes.
scrolling to much with a rotary type of input is terrible for your wrist.

i bid 45 and then went to the dentist today. so yes you did steal it from me lol. but i dont mind, i have a silver one still, plus i'd like to see this mod you will do.

I'm also looking for a black powermate since weeks.
If somebody want to get rid off please let me know.

Is that was causes it to not light up from time to time? I'll have to use this in case it does that. It's rare...but it happens.
