http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=61234.0;topicseen

## NerD TKL Ver2.0 for KMAC doesn't have mounting hole on the PCB, so you need a plate.
If you want assemble NerD TKL PCB for KMAC with original KMAC Plate, you should make a little mod to two points with a file.
[attachimg=3]
[attachimg=4]
Above are the squared holes for spacebar stabilizer plastic parts. You have to file the interfering locations. Spacebar Wire and the plate edge will contact. Flip the Plate and file a bit as shown in the pictures.
2. Plate : $45
[attachimg=2]
Above is not the plate for KMAC. It's NS NerD Crystal TKL housing. But the appearance will be quite similar as this one.
I will make the plate /w 2T Polycarbonate + diffuse finish for maximize the effect of On-PCB Backlight LEDs.
=> Due to manufacturing cost, the Plate will be changed to 1.5T Diffusing Polycarbornate.
To maximize compatibility, the plate will be the same as that of KMAC1.
So it should be fastened on the housing bottom(Even though you have KMAC1.2 or KMAC2, you can't fasten your plate on the top part.)
Now I'm taking orders(I will take order by the end of September.)

So basically the polycarb replaces the top part of the case? And this will work on KMAC2? A little confused as to how exactly it will fit together.
Super excited about this :D
-
That NerD logo looks slick!

It's just the plate. You still need the 2 pieces of a KMAC. You screw it into the bottom half instead of the top half.

Would this be of any use to someone without a KMAC? I love this and want one, but I don't have a KMAC. :(

Then why not just buy a NerD + GON housing... o_O

Yeah...without a KMAC, I don't think there's really a point in getting this, Hoff.

Then you can choose regular NerD TKL Ver2.0 PCB. ;)
This KMAC PCB is based on NerD TKL Ver2.0.
The two versions are 100% same only except for the USB connector position.
If you don't have a KMAC, this version of PCB is nothing...
You'd better order original NerD TKL Ver2.0 and NS or NS Crystal housing. ;)

Thanks. :D I think the fact that you sell the Crystal Housing is the critical information I missed. I for some reason thought this would be the only way to get the acrylic/polycarb (whichever it is) case in the OP. :thumb:

Bought 2 :). Been waiting for a fully backlit KMAC!

Hi GON,
If I am buying just the PCB only,
will the stock plate of KMAC 2 fit in ?

Sure ;)

Oh I forgot to tell you.
NerD TKL PCB for KMAC fits in its original plate. But you should do a little mod with its plate with a file. It's very easy, don't be afraid.;)
You have only to mod just 2 points.

Which are the areas that needed to be filed ?

Does this apply for both KMAC 1 and 2 plates? Or just KMAC 1 plates?

This applies all KMAC plates. My 1.5T plate for KMAC doesn't need mod, though.

Okay! Could you provide us with a zoomed out picture? So I have a better idea? Thank you!

I will post more pictures when I get a KMAC plate for measuring dimension. ;)
But if you assemble NerD TKL for KMAC PCB with original KMAC plate, you cannot use well-diffused On-PCB Backlight LEDs...
-
I have a polycarb KMAC plate. It's heavenly
-
What's so great about a polycarb plate? :O
@GON
What do you mean by well diffused LEDs? Like more bright?

Defusing is different from brigntness..
Just see the picture here.

White backlight is distributed through the plate.

I got the PCBs(White ones. ;)).
We have 3 PCBs left. So 3 more orders can be taken.
This kind of PCBs are not easily produced due to limited demand.
If you have a KMAC and want to upgrade your KBD, go grab this one.

I put in an order for a kmac pcb GON. Let me know if there are any problems.

I think you got the last one. ;)
Now to make this PCB again, I need at least 5 buyers. ;)
-
I'm down for one more PCB if we can get another four buyers.

Nice, did you install indicator led between the pcb and plate?

I didn't bother as the plate was partially covering the indicator LED. The light would have been washed out by the other LEDs anyways :D.
