probably 2-2.5k on everythingI have a long way to go then.
the general rule is $1-$2 per every post
i stopped putting $$$ in my savings account when i joined GH... that should give you a rough estimate
I think the going rate is at least a $1 per post.

I certainly hope that I am well below that.

there are some exceptions, but $1-$2 per post is the average
although I guess that's the story with averages

Stopped counting after $1K. I'm sure I've doubled that at this point.

makin' some of it back on 107 keys though.
Okay, now I'm curious and considering tallying it up. :-X :-X :-[ :blank:At this point I'm not sure I could if I wanted to.

Hmm, so I've bought a lot of stuff, but I've also sold a lot of stuff... In total last time I checked (~3 months ago) I had spent $7.5k, but obviously I didn't have keyboard stuff for that much money as I had sold a lot of things. Now I'm probably over $10k, but I'm not sure how much my current stuff is worth... maybe $4-5k.
Couple of grand. Hard to tell really because I tend to sell most stuff that I no longer use. I've probably got well over $500 worth of Cherry caps alone though and then if I start adding all the keyboards and parts for future builds it adds up pretty quick.

You spent at least $23,000?
Is this true? Do you buy one of every keyboard model?

Why do you always post crap like this? It literally adds nothing to the topic and only boosts your post count.
Title. This includes keycap, switches, leds, cases, switches, etc.
As a noob I have only spent 280 on 2 clear pokers.
It does tell the OP to please use the search function before posting a topic which was discussed months before. I kinda think it's relevant.http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44863.0

Damn, I have no idea of the actual price but, I'll do a quick rundown. So to summarise? I've spent a lot of ****ing money on keyboards.
- 1 x Razer Lycosa
- 2 x Razer Blackwidow Ultimate
- 1 x Razer Blackwidow Elite
- 2 x Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition
- 2 x Keycool 84
- 3 x Noppoo Choc mini
- 1 x Filco TKL
- 1 x HHKB Pro 2
- 1 x KUL ES-87 (Just bought this, it's not here yet, eagerly awaiting it's arrival).
I don't buy a lot of keycaps, I've only bought 1 x set of Ducky Shine 3 blanks and 2 x Red ESC keycaps.
Searching for similar thread is the job of rowdy !
I would personally be interested in knowing the difference between $ for keyboards and $ for keycaps. It would probably be hard to accept for many persons!

... I spent THIS year... what I expected to have spent since I started collecting.
€2142 or about $2747...
At least now I know where my money went this year. :-X
Well, that and a girlfriend in the beginning of the year. :p

No more GF. That's alright, there was no real future in it but I enjoyed my time with her nonetheless. :)... I've spent THIS year... what I expected to have spent since I started collecting. No more gf?

You'd prefer if we all just kept creating new threads, instead of referring or adding to existing ones?
That would make it even more difficult to search for information on the site.
What? I don't have that many posts :P
I honestly have no idea at this point how much I've spent or how much I've sold but it would have to be quite a bit.
It's bad I found a bag of keycaps and I have no idea where they came from....

I refuse to answer on the grounds that in so doing I may tend to incriminate myself.
Realistically, I am trying to wind down.
My "Naked 122" has been my primary board for a year or more, and I do not see that changing. Sure, I have rotated a couple of dozen others onto my desk for a few minutes or hours or days, and I am typing on one of my backup Model F-122s even now, but that is the exception rather than the rule.
During the past year, I have completed my 2 of my 3 primary "end-game" projects: blue Alps transplanted into a Northgate Omnikey 101 and a Filco Zero. Remaining is converting my Model F AT to near-ANSI adding Alt keys and internal Teensy.
I have a couple of immaculate fully-modded F-122s and a couple of primo Model Ms. If I ever manage to stumble across a reasonably-priced SSK at a time that I have the money in my pocket, I will buy it, and that will probably complete my IBM buckling spring collection. Likewise if I was ever able to acquire a Kingsaver, but I have pretty well written that off.
And I have at least a dozen keyboards, with various odd switches that I really like, in "deep storage" in boxes in the basement.
Beyond that, I have a big pile of stuff that I need to sell off and get out of the house. But I keep accumulating more junk because I can't resist interesting 2nd-hand gear that is cheap.
Whatever. It is what it is.
This thread was probably created so people can rationalize spending even more money on keyboardsOP here, this is true. Was trying to justify buying a viper.

Since I've joined geek hack...Jesus. What made it so expensive?
Close to 4000...
and the only "pricey item" I have, would be the lightsaver.
Spent almost 800 to almost have it where I want it.
Now just need them acrylic inserts :p
I paid something similar for my Orion. Lubed vintage Clears, clear tops, stickers and the keycaps to match require some searching, a whole lot of shipping and money. Still waiting for the matching inserts as well . :PSince I've joined geek hack...Jesus. What made it so expensive?

Let's see, if we do the $2 per post rule I'm over $9k. That seems a lot high though.
$1/post seems right, so I'll go with $4600. May be over $5k soon. Looking at 2 novatouches, a duck viper and a ducky mini, plus gmk cyan and powder coating for that ducky. And some random mods from ek and geekkeys.
150.00. Made my first keyboard purchase ever today! Ibm 4704 107 key.
I've only bought one keycap set @ $75.
I've only bought 2 aftermarket CCs @ good prices (rest were obtained through CC sales and trades).
I've only kept 1 QFR and 1 55g Realforce. Sold everything else I've tried at very minimal loss (great part about this hobby).
Model Ms and ALPS boards were nabbed at thrift stores and ecyclers.
So between my wife and I, I'd say we are $500-600 in maybe and have had a ton of fun trying out a mess of ****.
I'm not going to touch the math on this one, but I still have some green in my wallet so all is well. :thumb:Show Image(http://red.dazoe.net/stuff/WIN_20140926_175828.JPG)

I just finished counting it all up...
I need an adult
You lost a 356 mini? How the hell did you pull that off?
Edit: Just realized you meant the other meaning of lost. I'm tired. Long day.
I don't know how just I've lost or gained tradin and selling, but right now I have around $600-700 in keyboard related stuff. Hoping for a Korean for X-Mas that'll double that (seriously, 456gt be mine)
How many do you own now? You don't still have that huge collection, do you?
How many do you own now? You don't still have that huge collection, do you?
just an hhkb i got as a gift, a dead mx mini i can't find, a dead 356mini i can't find and a 3700 keypad.
I wonder if I should actually estimate the value of my little collection, I don't really think I want to know. It can't be too bad, right?
It can't be too bad, right?
Well by estimated value I don't mean saying my keycaps are worth any more than I have spent on them or anything. (I'm not one of those people who says my collection is worth 20x what it really is because I have click clacks and brobots and everything, if you know what i mean)I wonder if I should actually estimate the value of my little collection, I don't really think I want to know. It can't be too bad, right?
The estimated value and what you've spent could be totally different.
You still haven't said how much you spent, go for it ;)It can't be too bad, right?
:-X
Well the name of the thread is what have you spent, not what is the estimated value of your crap.Read what I said, please.

LOL. Most of the big spenders don't even know. I for one have absolutely no clue how much I've spent, and I don't particularly care to know that. :)) Hahaha.

I'm glad I got over that phase early. Used to pick up all kinds of weird boards off eBay but now I don't even bother looking as I'm only interested in boards I can actually use daily.
and all the ****ty stuff when you are first starting out
Now, if you're asking me how much my wife thinks I've spent on keyboards, that's another story...
Man, I wish I had $1 per post of stuff. Probably half that thoughI wish I didn't spend $1 per post.
Though if you look at some members, it seems like they have about $20 per post :))Man, I wish I had $1 per post of stuff. Probably half that thoughI wish I didn't spend $1 per post.
Broken Ducky £35, parts to fix it £25Corrected to
JD40 kit £50
Lots of switches/stems £65
Keycap sets £72
Artisan caps £45
Total so far: £292, about $450
$3 per post? Could be worse, I could have won the Clackvent :))
