Title: druinfly to local static
Post by: druinfly on Wed, 24 September 2014, 15:13:24
Hey geekhack,

I'm 27, a freelance software developer.  I'm currently working full time with iOS (not interested in any flame wars about this/that OS) - It's my firm belief that it's more about what you do with what you have, rather than what you "can" do.

I have a background in Aviation, and Simulation (think flight simulation/aerodynamics).  The real reason I ended up here was because I've felt a pretty real personal desire to learn more than QWERTY, and since I'm not really a fan of stickers I picked up a reasonable cost Monoprice, and realized belatedly that while it has Windows software supported it doesn't have Mac support. And while I don't expect or particularly care if that ever happens, I want to get into the hardware side of what I do and see if I can't dig my way to the metal on this one.

Also, I used a lot of mechanical keyboards growing up. And after moving around all of these years being limited to laptop environments I must say. I didn't realize how much I missed this.  And I fully expect that this little monoprice I'm typing on will be the first item, in a long line of adventures.

Pleased to be here,
druinfly

Welcome to Geekhack!

Ergonomics (http://geekhack.org/index.php?board=125.0) is another good area to ask about alternative keyboard layouts.
