Time to get a job in the Bay Area.
Sure, why not? Assuming you can find a buyer there.
Definitely bring! And I get first dibs!Sure, why not? Assuming you can find a buyer there.
Awesome, I'll try to bring my Poker II with Midnight DCS as well to show off. I'll just post the RF on the classifieds section if no one wants to buy it at the meetup. I felt it would be best if some local Geekhackers could check out the silencing mod before I let the keyboard go.
Sure thing, thanks! I should be able to drive that day though.Definitely bring! And I get first dibs!Sure, why not? Assuming you can find a buyer there.

Great! Then I have more room for hot chicks!

Please bring also kewt boyz.
Some Zenith or Omnikey doubleshots, some Apple PBT Dyesub,I can cover these, plus a bunch of other Alps caps. :-)
It depends, usually 4-5 hours.
travvy and radio_killah, it'll be great to meet you both. No need to worry about bringing anything. That's what I thought, with the game going on caltrain will be packed. I still need to figure out what I'm up to this weekend but if I can't go then definitely next month!
As a warning that slipped my mind, to anyone driving cars. There is a world series game at AT&T Park (not two blocks from GitHub HQ) starting at 5:07. This means two things:
1: We're not going to want to leave HQ from 3:30 - 5:15
2: Parking is gonna be $$$$$, if you can park elsewhere and take Bart or Caltrain, do it!
Also if there's any baseball fans who want to stay late I can try to set the game up on a screen somewhere.
I just realized that this will be the same date as the WI meetup. :) Would you guys be interested in trying to do some sort of joint portion to the events? I have no idea what that might consist of, but I thought I'd put the idea out there since we'll have two groups of at least 6 geekhackers together. :thumb:

Hoffman, I'm not sure if we'll have AV or not, but depending on the group size we might all be able to cram into a conference room and do a hangout or something. Would you be free around 11 or 12 Pacific time Saturday to do an AV test?

Hokay. I'll try my darndest to get to SF earlier on Saturday. Perhaps by crashing there Friday night. I am not a stupendous typist but I could see a typing competition being a diverting hangout event.
Ours starts 1pm central (11am pacific), so unfortunately I'd need to do that a little earlier in the day (half an hour earlier, I'd say). Or I could just step aside during the meetup, that's fine too. :thumb:
I'm trying to imagine what a hangout would end up being, and I'm having trouble seeing it be anything other than introductions and showing off boards. Which is fine, but is there something a little more interesting or productive we could do? Not that meeting people isn't fun, I'd just like to see what else we can do with the time. :)

I will not be attending myself, but would like to send my XTant keyboard - a custom layout capacitive buckling spring keyboard - to be evaluated by you guys. I plan to make kits available in the near future so that others can build these too. Attendees would be invited to type on it and examine the parts I have selected to make up the kits. I am soliciting suggestions and comments (anonymous if you like) to make it better.

Has anyone not yet typed on a Novatouch? I could bring one but my carry capacity is quickly maxing out.

I would love to see the novatouch personally but if its too much don't worry about it.

Is this still going to be there?
I will be in attendance regardless.

Just opened up the package from wcass :D
Now considering that there's going to be a game going on near Github, would it be better to drive there and park, or take public transportation?
Also if anyone has Matias clicky/silent keyboards please bring them so I can try them out and compare! I'll bring my silenced Realforce 87U to show off and maybe sell, as well as my Poker II. I picked up a Model F PC/AT off eBay this week but I don't think it will arrive in time for the event.

I'd go for public transportation. Parking=huge pain
I can bring in an F AT. I don't have cool keycaps so I'm just going to bring random keyboards...

Sounds good. I'll just take the caltrain express from the Mountain View stop, arrive at 11:45, grab some lunch and head to Github. Unless Github is providing lunch   :nudge: :nudge:
Github/SF sounds like a lot of fun.
I literally just made plans to watch the game with a client right before I read this thread, so I'm going to miss this one. :(

Got both the Novatouch and 456GT to the office today, as well as the Viper and Eagle kits for jwaz and cgbuen! I am going home this evening but I don't think I need to bring anything else.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/OQhcHp0.jpg)
Let me know if I'm wrong.
I'm in Santa Clara and don't have a car or anything (no parking in SF anyways). I was planning on walking to the Caltrain station and taking that up to the San Francisco stop.
How far is Github from the stop? Can I walk or will I need to get on a bus or uber? I suppose I could always check out Google maps.
Edit: looks like its a little over half a mile (a couple of blocks), so walking should be doable.

What train do you plan on taking? I'm still split on Bart or Caltrain.
If I plan on taking BART, should I just stop at Montgomery and walk down on 2nd to get to Brennan?
Also, I plan to bring my Dauphin since it's pretty much my only board with cool keycaps. I also might bring my FC660C with JP 10th anniversary RF keycaps.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/WKMfNOI.png)

Oh, can someone bring an XT to USB protocol converter? (I would make one right now out of a Teensy, but I’m all out of unused Teensies.)
XT is physically compatible with AT right? If I reflash my Soarer with a AT -> PS/2 to do XT layout everything will work?I think it should, yes. We can try it out and see. :)
nuclearsandwich: I was going to bring an XT Zenith keyboard with green alps and a buzzer, which is why I wanted the XT–>USB converter, but actually I think I’m going to bring a different green Alps board instead, since it’s a bit more unusual (in which case there’s no need for the converter). Or maybe I should just bring both.
Weather reports say a good chance of rain in SF. Bring a rain jacket or an umbrella and make sure your electronics are covered!
Gah. I screwed up and forgot to grab the DIN to miniDIN adapter for my converter. If you don't have one of them jacobolus you can definitely leave the XT for another meetup. :(

If you're talking about a 5-pin DIN to PS/2 adapter, I can bring two with me to the meetup.

I can also bring my Zenith AT board (ZKB-2R) with yellow Alps and buzzer if jacobolus doesn't bring his XT Zenith board. I have the same AT board with green Alps, but a few keys don't function (might need to resolder, but I lack soldering equipment).
Woke up late. On my way now. Should be there. A little before 3 I guess.
Will I need to text someone when I get there to let me in?
Holy crap this meetup was rad.
People who came, we haven't done it in the past, and I'm making the most work for hacoboloose but if you could post a list of the keyboards you brought. I think it'd be really neat to keep track of that. Here's mine:
- Novatouch - Commando SA set and various other thin PBT, DCS, DSA, and POM keycaps.Somehow I missed seeing the Novatouch. Oh well.
wcass's Xtant (Enter key didn't work...might be my fault)

lekashman (from Massdrop) brought some Vermillo keyboards (did I spell the name right?)
As well as the poker plate version of the Infinity Keyboard.
Man after seeing jacobulous and haata's lists I feel bad for only bringing a stock hhkb and a poker 2. Hopefully I'll be able to bring in a GON hhkb next time!

So like, it's totally not about what you bring. It's about coming and spending time and learning stuff. Bring what you'll enjoy sharing but don't think about it more than that! <3
Man after seeing jacobulous and haata's lists I feel bad for only bringing a stock hhkb and a poker 2. Hopefully I'll be able to bring in a GON hhkb next time!I almost always bring 0–3 things (because I usually travel by public transit / bike / foot). Yesterday was an exception because HaaTa was traveling light, and because I wanted people to see a bunch of examples of different types of keycaps.

Lost and Found
There's a 6footish Amazon USB - USB Mini cable that was left at GitHub HQ. If it's yours let me know and I can either bring it to next month or you can come hang out at GitHub sometime and pick it up.
