Got the DVD-box, never finished watching them. I don't know why, cause I really liked it. It is well paced, the acting is good and it's strange.
I am putting this back on the to-watch-menu (after I finish Fringe)

For those who need to have a reason, here are 11 reasons:

OK, I'll try. First I'll start by saying I'm not really a David Lynch fan, I've seen Mulholland Drive and thought it was a load of pretentious ****.
That being said, (yeah yeah,) the show is so offbeat that it kept me coming back for more and before I knew it I was hooked. The characters are all interesting and have odd idiosyncrasies that make each person in Twin Peaks unique and gives them room to breath on their own, not just as a background character. It's a very odd mix of a parody of soap operas, comedy, and film noire. Personally I can't really compare it to anything else on network television, in fact, I can't believe it actually got picked up for prime time let alone a second season and a movie. It's odd, off putting, homey, and ploddingly detailed in a manner that only someone like Lynch can pull off without people questioning. There are scenes where you will question the direction, but then you remember who directed it and you ponder upon the scene in question until you come to your own solid conclusion.

I would say give it the first 3 episodes, and if you don't find yourself getting sucked into the universe of Twin Peaks you'll never like the show. It's something indescribable, something you need to watch yourself and come to your own judgments about. Niche is the word of the day.

Ignore that line and read the rest. I know MD is like astro glide for film students.

Nice sell.  Comedy and film noire plus ploddingly detailed all appeal to me quite a bit.  I'll take your suggestion and watch a few episodes.  Might as well.  Got nothing going on in my Netflix queue, at the moment.

Twin Peaks... quite awesome until they solved the 'who killed Laura Palmer' arc, then it's just... probably better to stop watching it there and then go to Fire Walk With Me.

Other than that, Dune, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Nadja (though he was only in it and a producer), and Lost Highway are really any good. The rest of his work ranges from meh, weird to be weird and/or pretentious **** in my opinion.

I love the TV series. The first season is the best. The second might feel a bit stretched.
It is of course best enjoyed with a piece of cherry pie and a cup of damn good coffee.

The "movie" and the "Laura Palmer's Diary" are not worth watching/reading.

Twin peaks is great but apparently season two is not so great as he was effectively forced to change things at the end. I have also only watched the first season.
"I've seen Mulholland Drive and thought it was a load of pretentious ****." I also entirely agree with that statement :)

Mulholland Drive was at least better than Fire Walk with Me ...

BTW, David Lynch was once asked by George Lucas if he wanted to direct Star Wars - Return of the Jedi. He turned it down ... and made a (somewhat trippy) adaptation of Dune instead...
Some fans put together how it could have looked (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PALjbTo1D5U).
