Hey all, so Im interested in getting a Korean custom keyboard but I have a few questions before I commit hundreds of dollars towards getting one.
1. How do the LZ's compare with the GON keyboards in terms of case quality, pcb design, programability and feel?
2. How good are the LZ/GON keyboards for gaming?
3. How well do the korean customs work with mac osx?
4. Are keycaps all the same height?

LZs are a lot heavier, and people seem to like the case itself a little better, but GONs latest PCB, the NerD.2 is probably one of the top 3 to ever come out of Korea. (My personal top 3 list is 356 CL, NerD.2, and KMAC 2, in that order)
Kustoms are generally regarded as the best gaming keyboards. They also attract quite a bit of attention at LANs, if that's what you're into. You can put reds in your Kustom and literally become a god. *keyboards are not a substitute for actual skill
I think GON's boards work with OS X, but you can check his question thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43915.0) to make sure.
Depends on what keycaps you put on them. Both boards come with feet for the case that you can install if you wish.

I recommend GON highly. I've got the parts to assemble one of his and just about every aspect of it is well engineered and spot on (high quality).
Traditionally apple support has been good on korean customs. The KMAC for example has media keys that only work in OSX, etc.
They aren't any worse for gaming than any other mech. Depends on your preference of course. The programmability and macro aspect might make gaming easier.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, GON's boards are FAR more easily available than any other Kustom right now.

I guess GON it is. I do like the look of the NerD.2. So my plan was to purchase the case and pcb at the same time, and then look into buying the switches, leds, resistors, diodes a few months later and then get the key caps some time after that. Do I need anything else?

I was thinking about getting a wider tip so I can do that too, but I don't know if it's worth it. Note that in order to do that you need to put solder on all the pads first anyway, so it might not even save you time. I think the most impressive part is how fast he picks them up with his tweezers. I can never get them out of the tape that quick.
