I am very curious to find out how people are able to have avatars that do not include a background of some sort. How do you have an avatar with perfectly rounded edges:

jdcarpe's Avatar (sorry, I didn't ask to use for this example.)
What is the secret?
My current avatar is a die (dice plural) from a cool Fallout logo I found. The original image has no background, but as soon as I made it my avatar, bam! black background...what gives?

Took me forever to figure it out, someone figured it out for me actually. Resize your picture to 320x320 or below I believe and you will keep the transparency.
EDIT: Try 150x150, that is what my avatar is it seems.

jdcarpe's example pic is a PNG file: they can have a transparent "color." How you create it depends on the software you use... Photoshop and Paint.NET come to mind...

Sounds like the same issue another board I'm on has, except there the limit is 100x120px. Any larger and one loses transparency due to the forum backend resizing it.

I don't even remember. Mine was made years ago and just happens to work on all the forums. :))

I don't know if anyone remembers, but I made a thread asking about my current one...
130x130 works.
