Most mornings I have a pack of Belvita Breakfast Biscuits, a coffee and a water. In particular, I think the Golden Oat and Apple Cinnamon varieties of the biscuits are the best.

Anything with too much sugar/carbs will make you sleepy...  cereal, high-carb bread, pancakes, etc., are all sleep inducing -- unless you combine them with a protein source (eggs, bacon, salmon, tuna, beans, etc.)

Processed food is generally worse for you than something natural...  Pop-tart << fruit cup < actual fruit.

Pick the protein source first, then add some carbs (fruit, yogurt, toast, quick oats, whatever) and make sure it has some fiber in it.

For breakfast you could, for example, prepare a bowl of 200 gram kefir with 100 gram oat flakes, 100 gram chopped apple, and some sugar and cinnamon, if you like. Thanks for your attention :-)

Breakfast for me: 1 banana, 55g oats, 55g nuts, 75g frozen berries, 50g protein powder and 260ml water. Put it all in a blender, blend it and drink it. I prepare this the evening before and put it in the fridge overnight. No hustle with breakfast and no hunger before 10-11am.

I agree with this. Protein is great, a side of carbs for slow-release energy through the morning makes it better. To put it simply, eggies in a basket is easy and quick. Works well for me!

I've tried most of the things suggested.. and the protein type definitely falls into the hungry @ 9am section..

There should be no reason why one cannot throw 2-3 eggs into a frying pan to make a quick and healthy breakfast.

Sometimes I do 3-egg omelettes with whatever materials I may have on hand, or 2-egg scrambled eggs if in a hurry.

On weekends, I break out the French crepe pan for crepes (less healthy) but totally delicious :D

Other days I pre-soak muesli (lots of almonds) in grass-fed milk and eat it in the morning, totally effortless and delicious.

Breakfast is usually accompanied by a home-made cappuccino, but I don't think coffee is for everyone.

Hmmm

Typically caffeine + meal  is to keep you alert despite the insulin crush..

So I wonder if a high carb meal is at all good for breakfast..

I'm not an expert by any means, but usually eggs and muesli (if you pick the right variety) don't contain that much carbs. Also the cappuccinos are home-made and sweet enough without adding any sugar at all (steamed milk is sweet) so I'm guessing it isn't too bad.

All in all it feels like quite a bit of fibre actually. Correct me if I'm wrong, I would love to hear if there are ways to make this healthier.

Edit: I forgot to mention, yoghurt is probably the best thing you can eat during breakfast. It has lots of healthy benefits, and helps your ability to manage stress.

I tend to have coffee, 4 eggs (scrambled) with wholemeal toast, a banana and a protein shake. I need to up this and get a more beefier breakfast, but thus far I've not really got anything to add, apart from perhaps oats! but **** oats.

I've read some dietary recommendations once that you should get half of your daily fat intake at breakfast. That was a fitness magazine, so I dunno.

I usually have oatmeal, a fruit and a cup of coffee. Sometimes buttered toast with marmelade, but I prefer tea over coffee for toast.

I must add that at the time I couldn't get that bottle of rum in the states.  I bought it on base at AUTEC located on Andros Island in the Bahamas.  It was a bottle of Ron Zapaca, made in Guatemala.  It is a blended 23 year rum.

Assuming I'm at home, then the first thing I eat when I wake up is some sort of meat, like a handful, before leaving the house or whatever. An hour or so later there's my actual breakfast which is always oats, oat bran, whey powder, and chopped nuts (brazils, cashews, almonds, hazelnuts, walnut, pecans) in a roughly 5:1:4:3 ratio.

My breakfast = 2 cups of coffee and a fish sandwich.

If I'm going to skip lunch, or have a late lunch, it can increase to 2 fish sandwiches.

Here is an example of a fish.

I raise the question:

Is a ****ty breakfast better than no breakfast at all?

The answer is no. Skipping breakfast isn't bad for you.

I always thought that "most important meal of they day" thing was bull****...

I'd think that'd really depend on how demanding your mornings are..

I wake up and jog.. so, if I skip breakfast,  I'd probably fall asleep @ 8am..

Exercise pre-breakfast can be fairly beneficial, since your body is having to rely on burning adipose tissue for energy. Using that metabolic pathway is reasonably proven to have positive health implications, e.g. cholesterol levels, insulin sensitivity, weight loss/maintenance, etc.

Eating before you run is not convenient

you need to wait at least an hour to an hour and a half after eating before serious running..  other wise  side stitch can quite readily occur..

Yeah. Not sure why you're stating this.

Why has nobody mentioned the benefits of alcohol with breakfast?  I find a glass or two of Champagne with breakfast lends a sparkle to the day.  If you want more than a sparkle, and you want the day to blaze by, then I suggest a few nips of single malt scotch.  Or vodka and beer in a ratio of 2:3:4:5:6.
