On japanese amazon you can buy a black HHKB pro II for 21889 Yen, or 200 dollars. If you add the 2 red control keys and the 2 lavender esc keys, it will add 17 dollars. Using tenso, a proxy service, adds another 13 dollars. This add to a total of 230, much less than a normal HHKB with an extra add-on!

Where are you getting only $13 from Tenso from? Between the EMS shipping charge, and their own service fee, the cost is usually closer to ~35 dollars in total. While you would still save some money buying from the items from amazon.jp, the saving aren't as great as paying only $13. Now Tenso does often do promotions with Rakuten, which can often time shave off around 3,000 yen from the total shipping cost, that does often lead to significant savings on certain items of over 10,000 yen total.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page it says there is a service fee of 490 yen, and a 900 yen shipping fee. if you convert that to USD, then it is about thirteen dollars. Am I missing something? Sorry if this is the wrong information.

It's fine ;D I think that's simply the "minimum" or where the fees start at. If you click on the more information tab, it actually shows a breakdown of pricing in terms of the weight of the parcel. A HHKB is pretty light, yet still runs around $35 to ship. It's still an attractive option I guess for people living in states with high sales tax like California.

Ah ok. Thank you for correcting me ;D

Last time I order a book which is about 300g from amazon.jp by tenso, they charged me $35 for shipping...

It's never a great find when a transhipper is involved. =/

True that.
However, if you are looking for a proxy service that charges a reasonable price for shipping from Japan, I guess Tenso is the only viable option.

Price increased back to 24,990 yen though.
Any idea when price will decrease to the previous price point?
