Allllrighty! Got some prices and have some updates.
I had a couple complaints about 60% users having to shell out for a full modifiers kit so I've decided to try and set this up with a Base Mods kit being the keys needs to complete a 60% board and then added a pack that finished out 100% kits. The price is the same ($60 for all or $40/$20 split up), just with a break for those who want this as 60% without paying for the extra keys. Also, I inverted Ergodox as I had several requests for that as well.
Quotes received include the cost of the custom legends rolled into the Core kit so that the novelties are affordable. This will be the most effective way to lower costs all around. I'm planning the MOQ of the core kit at 50 and will get some quotes for smaller quantities on some of the child packs.

I just want to say, I have received wonderful suggestions and support for these designs and if the novelties tip & are created I am willing to share the rights with a prominent GH community member 100%! So if someone wants to run different colors or glow in the dark or something they can. I'm not in this for anything but the end result and the experience!! I had not even considered the technicality of user rights on legends until I read several threads on here - at the end of the day, I just want to see this through to fruition and share it with community that helped me create it! :D

Alright! Added homing set and a purple planetary pack. I also updated the colors a bit. After comparing several sets and using the Desk Authority guide, I've selected GTA as the grey and BO for the blue. I feel those colors will print closest to what I'm going for and the rendering should display them quite accurately.
Originally, I intended to use the Sun for the Escape key and the 9 planets would correspond with 1-9. I added a few more novelty keys though to improve customization.

What do you think about using RDA instead for the purple?
I worry it would turn out too light/magenta. I tried it first but ended up liking the deeper RDE as the RDA is pretty powerful against the other colors. With the blue inside it, the RDA almost hurts my eyes.

I like this idea. I think it would be nice to have the planetary kit on a separate numpad, and maintain numerals on my main board.

Thinking of suggestions for the "0/9" , "-/_" and "=/+" keys, rather than a blank, could you use something that would signify the following
"0" = asteroid belt
"-" = 1 star (smaller if required). Could be outline or cross shaped depending on size and shape.
"=" = 2 stars (or 3) (smaller if required). Stars could be crosses, or actual stars, some outlined, some solid if smaller.
This allows you to fill the blanks so it doesn't look lost, (imo), and sort of makes sense too.

I support this, especially if a star is going to be used in place of +/= (on the planetary pack); I also agree with the person who suggested that star be changed though. While I don't have much of a problem with the two blank keys in front of it, it would be nice if that star wasn't the same as the 1u modifier stars. Perhaps a key with 2-3 smaller stars would work.
Since you're getting the astronaut with the planetary pack, it is easy enough to use those instead of the star with +/=, but some may not like it (I do) and it seems like an easy-ish change.

I'm down with this set! I agree with a lot of the comments here about the winkeyless options as well as the copy paste look of some keys. I would definitely do what mito did and get a strong foundation by getting lots of feed back before moving forward. Also I would say just be aware of timing because wallets are probably pretty strapped for cash with the last 2 months or so of group buys. Just my 2 cents though.
I should have some edits/updates this evening. Good point about timing and everyone's cash flow at the moment, I believe we will do something similar to MiTo and run a tentative one month interest check and one month group buy.

Originally I intended to have the sun for the escape and then 9 planets as 1-9 numbers with the blank key at "0" to signify space/nothingness? ha. Also, that made 12 legends which seemed like a good, even number. I don't want to get too crazy with the new legends (more $$!).
However - I just added a Galaxy-esque key to solve some of those problems! I may still tweak the design though since I have a few galaxy styles I made to choose from.
I'm hoping it will all be pretty "keyed" when printed and I'd really prefer the purple legends. "Pulse" just came out as well and it had that blue/black feel.
I updated the grey to GTA which is what is used in Calm Depths. Colors are pretty difficult to pin down because the printed keysets look a bit different to the eye than the swatches.
If it makes it through interest checks, I may add a purple Alpha set.

Please vertically align the question mark and slash on their key to be visually consistent with the other dual character keys.
Consider adding a 1.75 Ctrl key, or at least some sort of not-Caps Lock -- perhaps the space suit helmet, key to the Tsangen/HHKB kit for those of us raised on UNIXy keyboards and/or who loathe the Caps Lock key/functionality.
Perhaps add Charon to the Pluto key since they are closer to co-planets than planet and moon.
For any extra icons what about the Moon, an Asteroid Belt segment and a comet trailing its tail.

If you haven't made the poll yet I would suggest using a google doc form with just a multiple choice question with the different profiles or using the strawpoll website. I'd much prefer to have this set in DCS or SA, but that's just me :thumb:

Straw poll was suggested to me as it supposedly checks networks & won't let you double vote. I tested it with my roommate from his computer and he couldn't vote after I did... But I suppose it's possible to work around and vote multiple times. I'll pm a mod and see if I can get a real poll!

Yea, there are pros/cons to all. DSA would be nice for me (less work laying out rows!) and would allow for all the keys to go anywhere, but I like the feel of DCS and I personally don't mind SA on a 60%. It'll be whatever the community decides ultimately. I've got a white backlit poker II coming in the mail and I just can't wait to see these colors on it!

Could you make a 60% kit in Orion and Polaris?
The modifier kits that exist will currently complete a 60%. You'll have a few extra keys, but I think the price difference would be negligible between the current modifier sets and a 60% only set.
However, if there is enough interest/requests, or if the price ends up to be dramatically different, I'll set it up!

I started with the standard keyboard layout from Signature Plastics which has line art for basic keycaps. The novelty icons, promo images, poker II rendering, etc. are all my designs and template free!
I'm planning on uploading all the different keyset templates at some point for the community to have as it's a pain in the butt to lay them all out individually.

Looks good. I think that set will cover a lot of different layouts! Hopefully by adding more keys it doesn't make it too expensive. Hopefully around $22-25 range would be good I think for that kit that covers that range of layouts.

I have granite R2 lined up as well. I'll probably hop on this set with the keys for JD40 + Planck + 60%. I'm really hoping this doesn't end up being SA profile tho. DCS and DSA I'm both pretty okay with, I just think SA looks silly on such tiny keyboards.
Also with the JD40 kit is there any chance of you adding a 1.25u FN key? I know I will be, and I expect a lot of other poker users to be replacing the tab / caps location with a FN key.

I have to agree with you about that JD40. I think it's because it is just a touch out of place, not anything drastic, and it still incorporates the proper color scheme, unlike a novelty key from a different set or anything markedly different.
Very good work on this set, we all appreciate it and are eager to get our hands on it.

Thanks for all the kind words on the JD40 set! I'll make a few tweaks on JD40 and HHKB as requested (like changing one of the delete keys to a backspace key and adding the \|). I'm trying to decide if it would be more cost effective to keep the HHKB keys in the adapter kit, or make a separate kit for it. That can be worked out later though I suppose when it makes it on PMK.Great news man! :thumb:

It is DSA. And you probably saw that in Matt3o's halloween kit thread. He said that the DSA tooling was booked for a few months iirc, which would slow down this GB but do we really care? I'd much rather wait and get DSA.

DSA just looks so much better on small keyboards, and since I'll be getting this set for either planck or JD40 or both. Waiting will be necessary and it will be worth it.

Barring any unforeseen obstacles, I will definitely do this. I have had requests for blanks in just about every set so it would ultimately be more efficient to set up blanks as individual keys so people can make their own sets however they'd like.

I haven't really thought this through so I might be missing a big thing on why you shouldn't do this, but if you plan to have the GB period end mid december (so 1 month after mid nov) then having an extra 2 weeks could ensure that everything would tip.

My wallet is pretty much gasping for breath on its last legs doing an extended death scene with Samuel L. Jackson right now.Push back as not start in november at all? I was thinking mid November-December, but I could do December-January. It may not even be possible to run a GB until a bit later depending on what SP wants to do.

Personally I say just wait a bit on the IC and make sure that your set has a strong following. In the mean time keep contact with Melissa about SP's schedule because if you haven't heard, Granite round 2 was just pushed back another month because of all the orders at PMK. So even if you decided to start earlier we still wouldn't get the keys for a long while. I say start the group buy either very end of november or early december. Just my 2 cents though.

Good catch on mod names. I didn't really notice that when I was making suggestions other than asking for ctrl and alt for planck. I've also talked to booper about a 1.25u fn for the base mod kits as well, which should be added next time he makes an update.

Here's a few things-
1 - I added several packs in a short while and a lot of the newer keyboards, I must admit, I don't know a ton about. I am accumulating feedback for a few days and then will post a new round of edits!
2 - I am waiting to hear back from Melissa on a few things. Once I make some edits and get my kits where I want them, I'll ask her for some quotes. New legends wont be cheap... BUT you get several new custom themed novelty keys!!
*Last I was quoted, the planetary pack would be an additional $21.60 if only 25 keysets sold. I don't know how this will change for all that I have now. If you look at the bottom of my OP, you can see an album with original quotes.
3 - I originally had standard "ctrl" "alt" "win" keys, but I thought the "super" "hyper" "meta" was cool as it's a tip of the hat to the the Space Cadet set (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space-cadet_keyboard) which kinda works with the theme. This is an idea I was going back and forth on and I will address it by making some changes or adding a win pack.
I need to figure out what exists already for legends. I created my current alternate sets from references that I know exist so I can save $$, but I will look into more specifics to improve consistency.
I want to get this all correct and with so many pieces, it's easy for me to overlook details. As always, please continue to let me know if you see anything off or wrong!

Here's a few things-
1 - I added several packs in a short while and a lot of the newer keyboards, I must admit, I don't know a ton about. I am accumulating feedback for a few days and then will post a new round of edits!
2 - I am waiting to hear back from Melissa on a few things. Once I make some edits and get my kits where I want them, I'll ask her for some quotes. New legends wont be cheap... BUT you get several new custom themed novelty keys!!

I would think it's a good idea to have the meta, super type keys as an addon set.
Consistency is important.
Hopefully, we can get options for mods that have text as well as symbols.
I might be aging for to much.

The mockup has a purple-on-yellow key that I don't see colour codes for. I'm assuming the purple is the same RDE, but I don't see a colour code for the yellow anywhere.

I'm thinking about keeping it and making a traditional pack for win keys but I am not sure yet.

I'm trying to catch up on some real work and then I'm going to dive back into this! Last I checked with Melissa, I had sent the latest tweaks on some novelties to make sure they are 100% CNC compatible.
I will contact her soon though to get some new estimates from my current setup and will build/arrange things accordingly! I'm aiming for this to be a 30 day GB that starts mid-late november but it's going to depend on what SP wants to do.

and to answer your question - I've actually wondered about doing DSA and SA. Like, can I offer two profiles in one buy? or would it be 2 interest checks? I would have to have new legends printed for both profiles.. etc.
I think, ultimately, sticking with one profile is the thing to do for now. I want to make sure everything tips and goes smoothly and everyone likes their sets -
and then I'll probably do an interest check on alternate profile version sometime next year (or let someone else do it if they want!)
But I don't want to get too far ahead of myself on this run! :/

I'm happy that the Planck exists since it makes it a bit easier to get caps for KBT Pure Pro... Only the spacebar is an issue that it doesn't help with (for ISO).

I have no problem with the prices of the mainstream kits. Only problem I see is the image for the blanks you listed 2.25u twice which I assume the very top one is supposed to be 2.75.

Ha, yea, I started to add an extra and figured I could just do it this way? Keyboards are all so different, I'm not sure if there is a standard on that.
Also I think super meta and hyper are labeled inaccurately. Super is more or less the win key, and I'm not entirely sure how the other two map to alt and ctrl since iirc they were distinct keys in addition to ctrl and alt on older keyboards.
As someone using a poker on a Mac, I have a poor frame of reference about ctrl, alt, win, command, menu.... I figured with the "super, hyper, meta" at least they are the same size so can be swapped around? But I did go back and fix it! Thanks :)

It's 4.5x and Signature Plastics has one only for the SA family apparently. I guess it might be possible to include even if it's a bit different... I'm sure any Pure Pro owner would be happy to get some space bar options. :)

I don't think it matters all that much whether or not it is the exact same. That said, the Symbolics Lisp machines had Control in addition to those, no Alt as a standard modifier. Historically Control was not a modifier key at all so it could be argued it's more correct to appropriate the labels that actually are only for modifier usage.

Yea... It was the one kit that seemed kinda pricey all things considered. I am thinking about taking out that space bar and selling it separately to shave a few bucks for those who don't need that size? It's hard to split it up because there are a lot of overlapping keys in those kits.
I just hope that JD40 kit gets tipped!

I'd think most people picking up that kit are running a 7u space bar but I'm not sure. Either way, it wouldn't make a difference to me. I'd still need to pick it up no matter what kit you put it in, lol.

The prices are pretty good especially at the 200s tiers. I might just buy 2 sets, one Polaris one Orion just so I can mix and match. :p

And I will probably add a core colorway f row kit as a child pack.

This is great, thanks so much. And I totally agree with you, ergodox keys are so often hard to do because of the variability of people's layouts, but I think the new one should do much better.

Hey OP, sorry if it has been brought up but have you gained approval for all the new legend designs in your planetary pack? Plus, all new legends carry with them a hefty $45 fee per new legend which will cause this GB to have an astronomical MOQ. Just letting you know.
The hardest part is tweaking the legends to make them Doubleshootable (it should be a word:rolleyes:). One is hard enough to clear, but having everyone of you legends make the grade, that may take a while.

If you look in the old original posts, you can see that some of the novelties have evolved over time. That was because of the back and forth with Signature Plastics about CNC/doubleshot compatibility. All the current novelties check out!
Also, yes the legend costs have been considered. The prices you see do include the new legends! They are already rolled into the core set. I plan to set the MOQ at 50 on the core kit which knocks the customs to about $.90 per.

I'm not sure how popular this would be, but would you consider a POS kit? The biggest issue with POS keyboards is that the Return, Backspace, and Caps Lock keys are 2u with only two stems (spaced to go over two mx switches). The space bar is also only 4u (please see here (http://i.ebayimg.com/t/TIPRO-Futuro-Kassentastatur-Part-No-30101-TMC-KMCV-C15-021-/00/s/NTMzWDgwMA==/z/XBwAAOSwGzlTtBym/$_35.JPG) for an example), but I know SP has made them before.
If this isn't possible, what about just a blank 2u key option with 2 stems?

damn, I'm sad to see the 1.5 ?/ key go away, there's already a \| 1.5 in the core set, I use the 1.5 ?/ key as my bottom right :(
