Hello!
Obviously I'm new here but I'm also new to mechanical keyboards. I have yet to make a purchase but I've been lurking around here for the past week or so and I'm already addicted. I've been able to narrow down my selection to 3 choices. I'd appreciate any feedback you may have. My choices are as follows:
- KBP V60 mini
- Poker II
- Leopold FC660M
My choice of switch would be Browns or Clears (I mash the keys pretty hard so Clears might be best). I'll be using it mostly for coding and some gaming. I also live in Canada so any tips on where to buy would be appreciated.
Now, if you'll excuse me I need to go back to drooling over keyboards!

Welcome, fellow nubling! =D
I've been using a KBT Pure 60% which is the same layout as the V60 mini, but without some of the V60's fancy features and I really enjoy it but sometimes I wish I had arrow keys or the F row. A numpad too on occasion, but that's just a good excuse to get a mechanical tenkey pad :thumb:
For the sheer convenience of those arrow keys, I'd really like to try out the Leopold, but otherwise I think the V60 is going to be an awesome and enviable purchase. It's so compact, so tiny, and so pretty. I take mine to LAN parties regularly and people constantly oggle the itty-bitty board.
I can't speak on browns or clears, only reds and whites, and I hate linear switches. Love the bump, love some weight. gurrrl you fine the way you is, with all your bumps and weight, mmm. My next purchase might be, unusually, an all MX Grey board (even heavier clears), which i've been told is only good for astronauts who smash buttons with their massive space mitts or something. Phooey, i'm getting it anyways! Hooray tactile!

Also, i'd go get the Maxkeyboard switch sampler (http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keyboard-keycap-cherry-mx-switch-o-ring-pro-sampler-tester-kit.html) for your first purchase. It's a great desk toy you can fiddle with and a (debatably) handy guide to what keyboard you'll buy next. There will be no end. Keyboards... keyboards until the heat-death of the universe... :-X

Welcome to Geekhack!
I haven't tried any of those keyboards  however I would go for a FC660M mainly due to the arrow keys and almost overwhelmingly positive reviews about it.

Thanks for the recommendations! Any tips on where I should buy (I'm in Canada)?

Here's a drop for the FC660M (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/leopold-fc660m). Unfortunately, shipping to Canada tends to be pretty costly. I don't know of any websites that make it any more affordable as the ones you'll most commonly find.
I'm happy with my KBP V60 with browns, but I'm curious about clears myself. Even though it's a light switch, I'm a light typist, so even the clears may be a bit heavy for me.
To my knowledge, you can only get limited edition Poker II's with clears, so if you're going for those, you're limited to the V60 and FC660M.
Oh, yeah. Forgot to say welcome to GeekHack, where you'll probably be broke like the rest of us.

Yeah, I think I'll go with the FC660M with grey keys and case. Wouldn't be surprised if I picked up a v60 in a few months. Now to figure out a way to slip these by my wife ;)

Congrats on pulling the trigger on your first board? The drop ain't over yet, so you'd have time to kill/change your mind if you wanna go for the V60. Mechanicalkeyboards.com shipped and delivered mine a day before the earliest ETA. Don't know how consistent that is, though.

Easy...you have them shipped to the office! :) I speak from experience. The FC660M is a great board, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The arrow keys are great.

Hello bender :p
If you like the fC660M you could get a poker 2 next, tons of customizability. (An easy board to throw a ton of money into)

Nonsense, go for gold. Buy an aluminum case, gmk keycaps, custom switches and an aftermarket plate.
Or buy an hhkb, amirite?

ok, I went for the Leopold drop. Grey on grey. So any recommendations on keycaps? :p ;D
-
Just a word of warning. Never post batteries in the mail thread, bad things happen...
As for keycaps, more Leopold. ;D http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=59780.0

The FC660M already comes with PBT keycaps, unless you're not satisfied with them.

Thinking about adding a splash of colour ;)
