Title: New Here
Post by: teejay17 on Wed, 08 October 2014, 20:45:20
Hey everyone, I'm new here. This is my first post. First off, I'm excited... I didn't know there was a whole forum, and community, dedicated to keyboards. How awesome is that! I stumbled here by accident as I was researching the IBM Model M.
In a short while, I will be the proud new owner of a Unicomp Classic keyboard, something for which I can't wait to try.
Until now, for the last few years I've been rocking the Logitech K800, a keyboard that will shortly be moved from my desktop to my living room, to be used with the home entertainment unit.
Before the K800, I rocked the cheap ten dollar boards that came with the PCs, typically dreading every writing event.
So that's a little about me. Can't wait to delve in.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Going straight for the buckling spring, eh?  Sweet :D

I have two Model M, although it is said that you cannot beat a Model F!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I have read great things about the Model F -- that it was the expensive model on which the M was based. I will be on the lookout for one of those at yard sales and flea markets. I imagine they are pretty rare...

Not as rare as you might think, but finding one for a decent price can take a little patience.

eBay is a good place to look.

My Unicomp Classic came in yesterday! I've already had the pleasure of typing up a few documents last evening. It sure works well.
As a new user, what sub-forum shall I go to, to discuss this keyboard with other like-minded folks?

Geekhack > Keyboards, of course!

At least that is what I would think. :P

Ah, such buckle.  Very spring.  So noise :D

(Typed on my Model M.)

Yes, Keyboards is the best place to discuss keyboards, unless you want to discuss modifying it.  Or selling it.  Or buying keycaps for it.
