The way to do this is to hire an assistant/employee. ;)
Done... There are now 30 hours in a day.
Unfortunately there are only 48 minutes in an hour, though.
Did any of you read "The Midnighters" by Scott Westerfeld?
elaborate
sounds nice

A very small percentage of people live through an extra hour at midnight each night.
The rest of the world is frozen and does not move, but dark and arcane forces and creatures have an hour to move around and do "stuff".
Usually found in the "young adult" section it is a very fun read.

Have you read about Polyphasic sleep ?
Have you read about Polyphasic sleep ?
Is that the Da Vinci cycles? Sleeping for shorter periods throughout the day rather than one long period? I tried that in college. Lasted a week.
I have recently discovered that I do not need the 8-9 hours per day that I thought I needed. I made some small adjustments in habits and attitude, and I can get by with 6-7 hours these days. How this affects my long-term health, I am not sure. TBD.

The only time I sleep well is when drunk
The only time I sleep well is when drunk
When I drink I can usually go to sleep easily enough, but, depending on how much I drank, I often wake up in the middle of the night feeling bad and not being able to go back to sleep.

Polyphasic sleep seems great when read but very hard to set up , and apparently not great for the body .
I have also problem sleeping , i sleep 5 hours max a night , and end up tired always .
The only time I sleep well is when drunk , and since I never have hangover or headaches , it was great for about a month .
But after drinking all nights become expensive , grocery lady judges you when your cart is only alcohol .
So less now , but always sleepy u_u

There is actually high comorbidity associated with people who NEEED 8-9 hours..
This will obviously vary depending on activity level... but.. overall.. healthy adults is 6-7 hours..
if you feel like you NEEEEED 8-9 emphasis on NEED... chances are, you're sick !

The amount of sleep that I felt like I need throughout life has varied, but I have realized that I need less when I find others that are intellectually stimulating and I have meaning in the lives of others and others have meaning in my life. As cheesy as that sounds. That is a roundabout way of saying that surrounding oneself with admirable friends with a shared sense of purpose and a good woman gives me energy. Biology at work, boys and girls. Also, keyboards are great.
Also, polyphasic sleep seems incompatible with the 9-5 working lifestyle. Hard to implement.
Listen guys, I'm getting tired of having to deal with this whole 24-hour per day limit placed on ourselves. I cannot spend as much time on Geekhack as I would like to, while making time for the other things I like to do with life. I would be happy if somebody could help me doing one or more of the following:sound nice, cool :thumb:
1) Extend the length of each day.
2) Reduce the amount of hours that I need to sleep to feel full of energy.
3) Reduce the typical American requirement of working 40 hours/week to be a full-time employee and qualify for health insurance. 30 hours/week with the option of working 3,4, or 5 days/week sounds fine to me.
3a) Change the health care bureaucracy so it does not bankrupt us if we have a flesh wound and make pricing more transparent. I do not know the price of any health care activity unless I explicitly ask.
3b) Unlink health care with full-time employment.
4) Help me become financially independent so I do not have to rely on someone else to pay me anymore.
There is actually high comorbidity associated with people who NEEED 8-9 hours..This is straight-up false. A few people can live on 6–7 hours of sleep per night, but for most adults it causes dramatic performance degradation on all sorts of mental and physical tasks (not to mention weakening the immune system and causing various other health problems); several people I know get very cranky when they haven’t had enough sleep; I speculate that either the body compensates for lack of sleep by pumping up the level of cortisol/etc. or else the systems that regulate those hormones stop working as well.
This will obviously vary depending on activity level... but.. overall.. healthy adults is 6-7 hours..

I’ve known about 4–5 people who tried polyphasic sleep at some point. (A couple of them for like 6 months.) Every single one of them was basically exhausted all the time. Seemed like a really dumb idea to me.
If anything, I wish there were less hours in the day. I get everything done in the first 4hrs after waking up, and the rest of the day is nothing but wasted time. It's excruciating.
another one uses an 1.5hr sleep phase.

12 hrs of weed ? how much weed is required to sustain this long a session..
