Title: Looking for blank black PBT keycaps.
Post by: Lethal Squirrel on Thu, 09 October 2014, 20:07:28
I'm looking to buy a set of blank black PBT keycaps for a tenkeyless but I'm having a hard time finding any. Does anybody know where I can buy some? Preferably cheap?

I think I remember seeing somewhere that Widebasket on eBay said he might start stocking blank black leopold pbt caps soon.  Until then, I think you're only option might be to see if you can take over someone's order in Ivan's PLUM group buy.

I asked him a few days ago and he said no plans for blank black.

But I wish he could get some that would be great!

Although the side prints really aren't bad, perhaps there is a way to get the side print legends off?

I posted this in one of the duplicate threads but since it seems like this is the one being used I'll repost it here.

Three options for the most part. There's a seller on ebay selling thick leopold PBT, but unfortunately nothing in blank black.
Side print black (http://www.ebay.com/itm/PBT-Keycap-Set-Cherry-MX-based-Leopold-Keyboard-Front-Face-Englih-Black-/281377716241)
Dark navy blank (http://www.ebay.com/itm/PBT-Keycap-Set-Cherry-MX-based-Leopold-Keyboard-Blank-Non-Printed-Navy-/271530133899)

Another option would be to try to pick up a blank black set from Ivans pitch black PBT group buy from someone willing to part with a one. Ducky also makes a blank black set (http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=98) but it hasnt been in stock for a little while now.

I wonder how possible that is. Using something like a plastic razor blade, maybe?

If they are DSA on that site I would bet PBT.

Thanks for the links guys. With the signature plastics site do I just add the base set to my cart and then a modifier set?

yup, cause those 2 = 89 keys
which obviously you'll have the F/J Deep Dish taken out if you don't want to use them so that means 87keys

MechanicalKeyboards.com has been getting the blank black sets in periodically but they sell out very fast.  I would not recommend them however - they are very thin, have warping issues.  On the personal preference side I don't like that they are OEM profile and they feel very sand-paper like - more so than most PBT sets.

If it were me I'd head over to Ivans GB and see if someone will let you swap places with them.
