I think that this is a good way to go.
I will say that Mito seems cool and his designs are definitely interesting and should be valued, but I cannot support him until he changes his views which oppose this community.

this is not the place for praising mito
please dont mistake my apology at being towards mito, that was for the community, this is a person who has systematically bullied me for 2 months, and he is certainly not a cool guy
great post
great guy
Sorry, I was misinformed.
I hadn't known that the K3 incident wasn't the first time he had done something so bad on such a scale.
If he has repeatedly done such indecent things then I would have to condemn him with dire sorrow.
However I still have hope that he may eventually have a change of heart. This is the internet after all where it's easy to get lost in flame wars and your own foolishness

The way that he has taken a single success to his head is a joke. Coming into a new hobby/community, you usually want to treat others with respect, something that Mito doesn't seem to understand. JD and Ctrl.Alt have done more for the keyboard community then Mito will ever do, and the fact that he went to name-calling and bullying after receiving critical but accurate advice for his original set shows how immature he is.
Not sure of others felt the same but every time he posted (both here and on r/MK) he was always tooting his own horn in a way. The whole pulse thing really stroked his ego and over time it seemed he became more vain.

Unfortunately, I had already purchased the Pulse set before all this started hitting the fan based on it being significantly a set put together by JD. I already had a bad feeling of the guy based on his remarks about Nubbinator's beautiful Apollo GT keyset, but bit the bullet anyway since half of the keyboard stuff I own matches the Miami set and the pulse set has the same teal.
I'm not that 'old' in GH, having joined a year ago, but my experience here is very positive and it is definitely due to many great individuals in this community. To see a newbie like MiTo coming in and create chaos and unrest just for his own ego and personal gain is despicable. He's like a virus trying to infect a fun community and turn us into zombie so we can infect each other (I played too much games, lol) and while he didn't do anything unlawfully wrong to get ban, we as a community, should stand as one and not support or ignore him. When there's no support, he will naturally go away. If everyone stops ordering cospar, he will move on and continue to do his business in Reddit. That's the easiest way to get rid of a troll :)
Nice post, JD. Glad to see people taking a stand.Sorry, I was misinformed.

Not critiquing you personally, Frosty, but this train of thought is dangerous, in my opinion. Just because we're online does not mean we can or should throw common decency, common sense, and basic ethics/morals out the window. In fact, it should be the opposite. Here, we do not have the luxury of face to face interaction and many of the nuances of communication are lost this way. Because of that, how we conduct ourselves through our posts and PM is basically the only representation of ourselves in the cyber world. We should be holding ourselves to a higher standard; in fact, the community should never pander to the lowest common denominator. Ever. Instead of giving someone a way out by using the excuse of, "it's the internet", or "he/she is new", or "real life is hard right now", people need to be held accountable and man up. Ignorance is never an excuse and life is hard for everyone. While some may think that recent events have been a witch hunt of sorts, it's refreshing to see that there are some members who won't stand for the - in layman's terms - utter bull**** that's been spread around.

That is true. However even though we should be hard pressed to filter ourselves on the internet, knowing that you can hide behind a monitor allows people to wild sometimes.
All of that said I just think that the way communication works through the internet is bull. Flame wars, misunderstood emotions, crazed uncontrolled outbursts, etc. just leads to so much chaos. I hope that this community is mature enough or has become more aware of these issues to further avoid any future ****storms.
i know several people who successfully cancelled the pulse order because of all this
Things could have been dealt with better.
Mito is rough around the edges and can run his mouth, but many here provoked him or bullied him along the way in some form or another. A lot of finger pointing/drama.
He may of started the drama but I lost a bit of respect for how those here didn't always take the high road and instead stooped down to his level. In doing so this place kind of embodied what ripster warns others about this place to be.
This thread also seems like another opportunity to somehow rationalize previous actions (insults etc) or to call out Mito for what he's been saying on reddit, but not so much about admitting fault.

In doing so this place kind of embodied what ripster warns others about this place to be.you got a point, but things are not nearly as melodramatic as you're making them out to be. we have a newer member who lacks tact, didn't win anyone over with his previous conduct, and turned against more established figures who were instrumental in the success of his first GB (you'd see how absolutely clueless he was if you were following the very initial IC). there was only one way this feud would turn out. is it regrettable that some ungraceful statements were made by the senior members? sure. were they completely unreasonable within the grand context? i don't think so

I bought a Pulse set, but I had no idea there was drama or how this guy treated Bunny. I just emailed SP and asked to cancel the order.

my [IC] at reddit, for my awful keyboard idea. Somehow I have been called out now too.

the trouble is, mito has just run all over reddit spreading lies, because he knows we dont post there, so wont set the story straight etc, its just more of his petty vindictive nonsense
i have intentionally left everything i have done and said together and very open

More than likely this ^
Though I do post on reddit, not often, I just post pictures on there as i'm always really chuffed with my work and I want people to see it. It's probably based on my [CTRL]ALT flair thing on there. If supporting and working with my bro's makes me an ******* then so be it!
Let's not get back to the same old same old from the other threads. JDCarpe has made his statement, we all respect him and his opinion, let's keep it at that.
Is Mito Ripster? <img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/tapatalk-emoji/emoji85.png" />

I hope this incident doesn't harm other PMK organizers -- that would be a shame. I hope GH members will continue to help the new wave of organizers that the PMK system has brought about.
Personally, I don't agree with the boycott/ban, because even if it's deserved, it still looks petty and small. It feels morally on par with Ripster's demand that all his wiki content be pulled. He donated something valuable and good to the overall community (in the same way that JD and others donated their experience and knowledge to MiTo in regards to SA profiles, etc.) -- and, like Ripster, we're pissed now and we're going to try to 'undo' whatever good we initially did, for purely personal reasons.
I don't buy the IP argument because so many of our groupbuys outright ignore the IP rights of other parties (which I've bought into myself) so I refuse to get on that high horse.
MiTo has clearly lost a lot of goodwill over here, so I wouldn't expect GH members to donate any more of their knowledge to him in service to his groupbuys, but be realistic: he can get that experience elsewhere. Maybe not as easily or quickly, but he'll get it. Hell, he could get it from SP. But consider this: how is the overall community served by denying any organizer good information? Let's imagine MiTo puts out a groupbuy in the future that has a flaw that only a GH member notices -- would it be morally right to withhold that information, so that when the groupbuy is produced, MiTo's reputation suffers -- and that would make us feel good? What about the community members who now have a flawed keyset on their hands?
Where's the altruism now?
So trying to 'hurt' MiTo by boycotting his GBs feels like a bad move. And declaring that anyone who supports his GB, or expresses interest will be blocked from other GBs, that's ... that's a Ripster-ish move. We're the better community, let's prove it by not forcing people to choose 'sides', and by not withholding help.
did you not read my thread about this?

Nope. Are you dropping your ban threat?
you are arguing a point about 15 hours too late
I wanted to apologize for the way I responded to MiTo’s actions, on the part of the community. While the remarks and actions he displayed were definitely wrong, I did not consider that I was punishing innocent bystanders in the process. I am not condoning his actions, nor am I apologizing for his actions. He knows he acted unprofessionally, and its up to him whether or not he wants to apologize to the community for his actions.
...
I let my emotions get the best of me, and I regret that.
The bottom line is, I want to say that I am not banning anyone that buys a key set that MiTo designs. What I am saying is that I will not support anyone who directly supports people who intend to do harm both personally and to the community, on GeekHack.
my comments have been explained and clarified, however it seems that is not the only post on this matter that you have overlooked prior to forming your opinion

I see the one. What else did I miss? And please don't be nasty to me, BL, I'm not your enemy.
Hopefully people learn from this and move on and become more mature. Hopefully it causes introspection and a change for the better. And hopefully Moz's ceaseless optimism is not unfounded.I wish for the same.
