Title: Machines are not our replacement..
Post by: tp4tissue on Tue, 28 October 2014, 05:30:58
They are our children. They are our continuation, the future of machines is the future of humanity.

They are us, and we are them.

Eventually the parents die, leaving the children to run the world.

Yup.. and there's really no need for skynet to KILL all humans.. I think humans would naturally relinquish, and trade up to neural net upload.

How many humans left alive would depend on why the machines want to keep humans alive.

Pets?  Unlikely.

Food?  Nope.

Energy, like in Matrix?  Possibly.

They'd probably use algae for a solar bio battery.. by burning lipids rather than humans..

as to WHY keep humans around..  the Machine is as human as any human.. it's the next step.. we really should remove this boundary in description of our creations as external to ourselves..

A sufficiently complex machine is as much a human, as human children, and it is by the same labor that they are created, and with the same interest..  Our continuation..

Or are humans defined by their flaws?  Emotions, need to reproduce biologically and so on.

Machines would suffer none of those inconveniences.

those are antiquated scifi concepts based solely on machine prejudices..  how they can't feel, how they are cold..

They are NOT cold, and they CAN feel..

We know that, I'm wondering whether he is considering a robot girlfriend.  Some of them almost look realistic now.

The question is probably whether you started this thread with that aim in mind.

The question is probably whether you started this thread with that aim in mind.

well it was always a possible tangent in any geeky AI thread..

but if ya'll must delve into that area of my life..  tp4 has pretty good luck with the females.. and has never had any pressing need for Girlfriend 1.0

I am not saying I wouldn't purchase GF 1.0  if given the opportunity.. I probably would..

and so would 90% of GH.. guesstimate.

First step, augmentation with cybernetics. Second step development of full cybernetic bodies. Third step transfer consciousness of human to AI. Forth step, transcendence to pure energy being.
