Title: pcb mounted keyboards?
Post by: prava on Wed, 29 October 2014, 18:49:48
Hi there.

It so happens that after trying a KBC Poker with mx reds... I don't like my Filco MX red anymore. I don't know, it seems the flex of the pcb makes all the difference.

So, any other keyboards that are pcb mounted?

I feel the same, I have a new found love for PCB mounted keyboards.

However I also found out that not all PCB mounted keyboards are created equal.  It seems like the ones with smaller footprint tend to feel better (Race II, Pure... etc).

From what I heard the bigger ones (full size) tend to have more flex and feel flimsy/cheap.

There was a thread about it you can read up about it here:  http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=29253.0

Vortex released some teaser photos of a "new 60" that appears to be a pcb mount keyboard.

Are all pcb mounted switch mountable without soldering?

They'll stay in place without soldering, but you need to solder to use them.
