Title: Fire
Post by: Photekq on Fri, 31 October 2014, 14:26:44
Making this post mainly as a notice, as I sold some stuff this week and aimed to have it shipped out next week. There's also a bunch of people who are expecting messages from me, etc. This is why I may be fairly inactive for the next week, and why I may not get that stuff shipped off.

Earlier there was a fire where I live. For a second I thought the past 2 years of my life would be gone - my PC, my data, my schoolwork and the keyboards I've put so much effort into acquiring, including two keyboards that are 1-of-4 that've been found. So, of course, the first things I ran out of the house with were those two keyboards, 2x 3116s and my box of keycaps. That's all I managed to get out..

Luckily, it's four stories [we rent the top three] and the fire was on a ground floor. So, nothing of mine was damaged. Unfortunately, it was an electrical fire, so there'll be no electricity for the next week-ish and there's considerable smoke damage. So, I will be far from active until then and I may not be able to get that stuff shipped or reply to any mesages.

Glad you and your family are safe man. It's just keyboards in the end but it's interesting to see what you grabbed. Take care of yourself and we'll be here when you return. If there's anything I can do to help personally, please let me know :).

Fire sucks, but at least you didn't loose too much of value!

That is terrible! Luckily you came out of it okay. The smell from the smoke can really get into everything you own, even if it was safe from the fire. I'm sure you will be doing quite a bit of airing out everything you own. I hope the smoke damage doesn't end up being too significant. Good luck with everything! Glad to hear you are safe.

That sucks. Glad you, your family, and your keyboard family are all OK.

I guess that answers the question of "what would you grab if your house was on fire" question...

Make sure to air everything out, or it'll smell like smoke for years.

glad you are okay.

I got the mental image of a guy running out his apartment with two keyboards under his arm though.
to be entirely honest with you i might do the same and mine are not even that rare . . .

Glad to hear your precious keyboards are safe.  Even more glad to hear that you're fine and no one was injured.  Hope everything gets back to normal soon and that nothing was too water or smoke damaged.

And that talk about your PC made me realize I need to have some sort of off-site back up to assure data continuity...even if it just means storing an external HDD at work.

Just finished moving my PC and stuff into my grandads house for the time being, so hopefully I'll be able to be a bit active and do the stuff I need to do. Currently limited to a Compaq 11801 though :)) No 360 for me for a while..

Thanks for all the kind words, I'm incredibly happy that me, my family, and my stuff is OK too. I don't know what I would've done if my room had gone up in flames. It really would've been 2 years of my life lost.
