Title: The struggle is real.
Post by: MiTo on Tue, 04 November 2014, 09:05:59
This is me trying to browse GeekHack on a computer at college. It took almost 35 minutes to simply post an answer on a thread.

I'm drowning on deals. It's funny because they are kinda of random, sometimes I get dildos, than binoculars, than toys, than shirts and than often, keyboards. Not to mention that I already earned 20 million brittish pounds since I've been sitting here (twice) and a Chevy Camaro because I'm he 1,000,000th visitor.

They're not random. They're taking information from browsing history. Obviously you have children, perverts, peeping toms, and douchebags all going to your college. Either that, or this is your browsing history, and you're all these things.

I think that it gathers the history and what's currently being displayed on the screen.

Since that PC is one of the many at an actual classroom, you can have a glimpse of what usually seems to happen over there.

I would not type any personal information into that thing at all. I would not stick anything into those USB ports.
I would. Shut it down. insert read-only (many older usb drives had a read-only lock switch like SD cards) USB device like flashdrive or SD card, load up linux (to ram if you want to be all paranoid), do whatever.

Is your school's IT department afraid of maintenance?  My university 10 years ago would automatically reset each lab computer to stock nightly, and student information is on servers and backup servers.  Never had an issue at my school.

My school used Solaris workstations to force us to learn Unix. I'm thankful for that, for so many reasons.

Yeah i'm glad I got into Unix at an early age, it always comes in handy. Just yesterday I loaded up an Ubuntu live cd so I could dd clone my OSX drive to the SSD I just got.

Cygwin is great for keeping up those skills, if you need it. It's a Linux shell that runs in windows.

That's malware champ, school will have to clean it up.

This is why I hate Windows.
