Title: Painting keyboard backing?
Post by: connorelsea on Wed, 05 November 2014, 15:19:30
I would like to paint the backing of my WASD keyboard, similar to how some Rosewill keyboards have a red background that you can see beyond the keys. What would doing this to a WASD keyboard, without getting paint on the switches, entail?

Here is a picture of the WASD keyboard.

Desolder.
Take out plate.
Sand and prep plate.
Paint plate.

The desoldering process is what I am kind of concerned about. I am not entirely sure what that entails or how to do so or how to put the switches back on.

There are videos here:
WFD made some decent stuff before he disappeared.

Is it possible just to get a replacement plate or the appropriate colour?

You'd really be up for desoldering all the switches anyway.
