Are robots going to take over the world and destroy us?

Arati Prabhakar head of DARPA says:

Did you watch the semifinals of the DARPA Robotics Challenge in December, where the world's most advanced humanoid robots competed in a series of tasks related to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief? The best of them could barely climb a few stairs without toppling over. For the foreseeable future, I'm a lot more worried about humans messing with humans than I am about robots messing with humans.


She is another one of the silly humans who do not understand exponential growth..   How long did it take humans to learn to walk..  How long did it take robots..


People see 1 lifetime.. they could careless about the next..

hammers have been around longer than human beings m8
but modern society has only been around for a couple hundred years

exponential growth depends on a machines ability to learn from other machines, and that is not even close to being in sight at the moment.
its not even clear if that's really possible.

at some point yes the machines will start a drastic upward trajectory
but its humans as far as the eye can see for now baby

I'm not worried, I'm cool with a bunch of robots so I they will leave me alone when the singularity occurs.  As long as I have good relations with whatever robot is running the local brewery, I'll be ok with it all.

It's more like humans who control killer robots who will be the overlords.
