Title: my getto fix to lifted/burnt traces. (pics)

Hey everyone, I have a poker that I'm fixing up, and the PCB was bought used, and the previous owner absolutely destroyed the PCB, when I got it many of the traces were burnt in a botched attempt to change the switches, keys weren't working, etc.

So I had to hard wire some of the switches, replace broken diodes, and jump power from other switches to get it to work.

My spacebar trace was completely burnt out, lifted, and I didn't have any way to connect the trace to the switch, so I ended up just cutting a few squares out of tin foil, carefully laying the trace between the layer, and then sticking the pin of the switch through the pcb. ( the other pin was fine ) A touch of hot glue on the back of the pcb to help keep the switch in place, and its good to go!

Figure if anyone is stuck in a similar situation, this trick may help you out a bit.

I can see this working for a lifted pad, but I wouldn't really rely on it.

IMHO a better option would be to scrape the resist off the trace and use copper tape with conductive adhesive to replace the lifted piece: http://www.adafruit.com/product/1128

yeah, copper tape would have worked much better, but this is what I had on hand.
Though if I can find some next time I'm at the electronic parts store I'll pick some up.
