Post by: Dr.Chipotle on Sat, 08 November 2014, 13:20:00
So i decided switch the green razer switches from my blackwidow with cherry mx browns, but decided to only put in 5 just to see how they would feel. When i was typing 10 keys didnt work(ones that were not replaced and kept the same) they keys are 7,+/=, backspace, U,I,O,PD, {/[, and left shift, anyone knows why those keys dotn work and im typing this with an old membrane keyboard

Sounds like a bad soldering job. Which keys did you replace?

If you can you should add some pictures of the solder points and the switches you replaced. Would be easier to identify the problem.

From the pictures it looks like it might be an overheated joint. Repairing overheated joints is pretty straightforward. Remove all solder, take a razor blade or other object and scrape away all the nasty burnt flux. Some isopropyl will help get the stubborn ones out (don't use too much just a dab on a toothpick will be fine)Then just resolder the joint using a lower temp setting. I have my temp set at ~650F. Also keeping a clean tip will go a LONG way to getting clean solder joints. Hope that helps and I wish you luck, but without actually looking at the board not too sure what else it could be.

Well thats only for like the function keys, what about the other keys. Is it possible that an overheated joint could affect the keys?
