Title: Everex keyboard
Post by: pby on Wed, 15 July 2009, 19:54:26
My mother was clearing out the house the other week, she found a couple of keyboards that might be of interest to me, so she took a photo of it.

Does anyone know if the everex is a mechanical keyboard? I somewhat recall it being clicky but this was like 15 years ago so I could be wrong!
I know the ibm isn't so its probably getting thrown out but just wondering if the everex is worth making a trip for.

Regards

Could you post the pic of it up? And we'd probably need a model number to say for definite, although a pic may be enough for some of the more sharp-eyed conniseurs :)

Wait, pic wasn't there when I loaded the page. I can't say for definite, but that could well be some old Alps board. Maybe someone else will be able to confirm for sure, but I'd say that if you remember it being clicky, there's a good chance it is based on what I can see.

Yea, the pic doesn't show up when opening this thread for the first time.  May be too big for the auto-resizer...

Keyboard looks interesting albeit dirty.  Don't know what it is.

Some of Everex boards are re-branded NMB RT-825x OAK-Z15 or RT-101 with NMB mechanical switches. But the board is not.
Maybe a Monterey board with fake SMKs or (fake) alps?

In any case, it would be a mechanical board and thus worth picking up when the opportunity arises.

How do people get the SIDES of their keys so dirty??

My linear G80-3000 was like that, too. Massive amounts of black dirt on the sides of the keys (the tops hardly were super clean either), and a good bit inside as well. My guess was toner dust.

Normally the key sides mainly catch some tea drops and such.

I'm really excited about getting it now.

I have no idea why that board is so filthy but I'm pretty sure i'll give it a good cleanup when i do get it :)
