I have a thin USB cable that I'm trying to sleeve with paracord and resolder connectors onto. When I cut the wire open I see 5 wires... and none of them are really the colors I'm used to seeing from USB.

Does anyone have any idea how I would go about soldering these wires to a standard USB 4 pin connector?
I'm assuming the wires are done this way due to the wire only being 2mm in thickness.

A assume you only cut off one end? If so, you could take a multimeter, and test continuity on the cot off end to see what pins each color connects to, then of course you will need to solder the corresponding color wire to the correct pin on the new connector.
Sparkfun has some great usb connectors, I will get a link for you in a sec.

I haven't tried those connectors yet, but I was thinking of ordering some to try making some heavy duty coiled usb cables to go with my Model M restorations.
