Damnit that would have been such a cool set if it weren't insanely shiny. I would have even bought it if it was just kinda shiny too

A good bit of them are willing to ship international, but the cost of shipping a keyboard oversees is crazy

is the -AR for "armenian" language?

No, if there are only three letters after the model number then only one letter notes the language. In this case 'R' for Russian. However, that code was apparently used for several variations with other languages.

BTW, The "AR" code in five-letter codes is for Arabic.

Yeah, that's true... A usual package to the US is about 43$ here.

I was going to try and snipe this for a low price.. Been watching it all week. But, 50EUR+shipping is just too much for this set since it's so damn shiny.

P.S Seller did offer to ship to the UK, so he will probably ship elsewhere. You will have to contact him in German, as I don't think he speaks English.

It was over 50EUR before you posted it, which was my max price. No harm done.

R is "Russian (Cyrillic) and English (various)". Look at the G80-1000HAR, then at this. Totally different layouts, same ending letter.

If you're willing to be blasphemous, you could try sanding the keycaps. That will restore some texture.

(As a user of relegendables, I'm kinda used to shiny keycaps too. Don't like it, but can't use my stuff without it.)

I bought a Northgate 101 about a year ago with caps that were WAY more worn and shiny than these.

On many of the keys, especially spacebar and enter, there were deep and distinct depressions worn down where the thumb had hit.

Wow, that keyboard must have been nearly as old as you!

I have some shiny PBT IBM keycaps. In one case it was likely used at an airport 18 hours a day for 10 years or so. In the other case it appears that dirty fingers or grime abraded the keys. In some cases the legends are hard to read, despite beig dyesubbed.

PBT is awesome but not impossible to wear.

Who was it that claimed to have worn out a Model M, and in doing so having worn out more than one set of keys by wearing them all the way through the plastic?

Or did we determine that was bogus?

Rootwyrm "hands of steel" says that he wears through a set of IBM keycaps every 6 months or so.

He is a really interesting guy. I'd love to meet up with him at keycon or something. Shame he's no longer active.
