Looks like there's a gamer-oriented full-size keyboard on Massdrop (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/cougar-attack-2) from a company I hadn't heard of. I only say gamer-oriented because of the litany of extra macro buttons north of the function row and a "gaming mode" that locks out windows keys and "increases the key-code sending speed from 4 times (USB) to 8 times (PS/2) than normal" (i can't imagine this actually makes any discernible difference to anyone). There's a thread on the board here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36888), but the big difference on Massdrop is that this is for a non-LED-backlit version with MX blues.

Just curious what people think about this drop and a potential $79.99 price (at the best volume discount, 30 units). Worth it? Personally, I'm considering getting it just to mod and experiment with. It doesn't look that bad!
(please don't poop on it just for being "gamer" bait; lets not to be such a negative nancies over the subjective qualms of taste. :p)

I think the legends would bother me. They look slightly right of center.
-
Crap. Now that's bugging me. Oh well, just an excuse to buy a better set. :))
-
Why are cougars attacking MassDrop?
And when did the first one happen? :))
-
The function row itself isn't exactly efficient in game operation, really no idea why they think those other keys above the function row would be good. At least Logitech and others put their macro keys to the left side, as it's a little better if you want macros.

Not bad.
Not good.
I'll pass.

First thought was that they were selling adult movies on Massdrop now, but then I saw this topic was in the keyboard section.

note this keyboard selles under several names, its just one of those mass produced units that people pay to put their brand names on and re-sell.

these keyboards are booming, I used to have it, I only got it of it as it was ISO and I wanted ANSI, and then they vanished off the face of the earth for ages.
The pcb inside these boards is really ace, much better quality pcb than is found in some keyboards. Plus the layout is entirely normal.
If you want a full size backlit board, this is a hard one to beat, recording on the fly macros is easy and good too. I used to use this board at work to do repetitive functions.
If I wanted a full size board I would buy this one again in an instant. it's really fun for modding too as the pcb is so forgiving, you can resolder this over and over and over again and it doesn't mess with the pcb and the pads stay fine.

Sounds good, and I'm going to wager a guess that this non-LED version probably has the PCB holes and functionality for backlighting. Thanks for the input margo. :thumb:

I don't think I would ever buy a board over $20.00 on the premise that it doesn't look "that bad" but I agree it looks decent, but its not my style visually. In all actuality this looks like a pretty good deal.

I saw them years ago on pchome.com.tw and thought they sounded compelling, as I want a small bank of macro keys, and their layout doesn't suck. But I wasn't willing to spend $120 when you could get a Ducky for less.

I personally think that full sized keyboards are gross.
Only my blue alps keyboard will have all 100 or so keys on it (until I can transplant them ofc :p )

Looks like the xtify NiP keyboard:
